Casing Jumps

I tore my ACL/meniscus last year after casing a jump and hyperextending my knee, and usually casing a jump is a somewhat common thing for me (probably half a dozen times if im spending the day lapping a park). Havent skied since, and do not want to be casing jumps this year (I realize its impossible to never case a jump again)So how do people not case the big jumps, because I would think that some of the jumps that people hit, if you cased it you'd for sure get fucked up

sack up and hit the jump with the right speed i used to have the same problem, and get a good pop with forward shin pressure and you should be solid kid, yeah im not turpin but i know how to hit a jump correctly
practice on smaller jumps getting the right pop and you'll want to go bigger just because thats just how it goes, and then hit it with somebody that knows the right speed and follow them off the jump you should be solid kid.

dude.... go faster, dont be so apprehensive when you go to a bigger jump. ask the other people hitting it what the speed is like if your really worried

its not cause im afraid of the jump, it just seems like every once in a while i'll case. like i never have the same speed into the jump even if i drop in from the same point, straightline to the lip. maybe i'm not poppin the same each time or somethin

if your tall ike me, or even if your short, it depends on what your doing on that inrun,

if oyu tuck for the first half, then stand up halfway, your gonna have a different speed than if you just tuck most of the ways

when you get into speed and such the position your in incredibly affects how much speed your able to have

hope that helps!

I'd like to chime in on this one. I'm a certified casing expert! Just ask anyone. It's not my finest hour, but here are some causes I've identified and some suggested solutions. I'm working through this problem right now. My old body just can't take the hits anymore, so this is definitely my biggest challenge this year.

Problems:

-washy carves on the inrun

-absolute apprehension at the lip

-leaning back out of apprehension

-missing the pop @ the lip

Suggestions (and they work when I do them)

-follow other carve tracks

-square up to the jump

-lean forward and 'attack' the lip

-focus eyes on the knuckle just before you hit the lip, this helps you see how hard you have to pop to clear it. So much can be adjusted in your pop.

-COMMIT

if u dont know what speed to do the jump with and u not ballsy enough to hit it without knowing just get someone to tail then u will get the speed exactly

follow a guy that knows the speed , and if you are cassing all the time...go faster . more shame in cassing then overshooting ....or hit the gym if you want to case all day long and live trough it.
