I cant seem to carve switch very well, pleese give me some tips im stuck

we bet this retarded kid to smoke a blunt on a bus. he got a 30 day suspension and had to go to court... oops.-Skiierman

no, you get a rear wheel drive car, and do a donut, and punt them across the street with the tail of the car. that's how to do it with ghetto bling bling steeze.-Bangor

turn your head in the direction you are trying to turn. use lots of lead change, in addition to leaning forward and into the turn the way you would going forwards(as in leaning sideways). put forward pressure on your shins. hopefully this helps. it really helps to have twin tips, which almost every skiier that even thinks about going off jumps has nowdays, ans to be fairly close ot center mount

depending on my mood, you might get a nice thoughtful responce that might make sense, or you might get complete jibberish that is not wise to even read. good luck

it all comes with practice and just trying it over and over again.

i was going to go for a quad daffy but i was like, why huck? -mommy

Get used to it, and try not to get your tips and tails caught. That's huge.

By 'get used to it' I mean to just try it any time you can. On a groomed run on the way to the park, for example.

yeah, the only way youre going to learn is to practice. one day, instead of going through the park all the time, find a nice blue run and just ski backwards. do this run after run after run.

you have to have an athletic stance, with your knees bent, and your arms off to your sides. you have to learn forward some in able to see around you, but dont lean over too far. make sure that your ass isnt sticking up in the air. when you are turning towards skier's right (your left, since youre backwards), have your head over your left shoulder. for left turns, have your head over your right shoulder. it helps tons to have your feet staggered. when carving left (skier's left, remember), have your right foor just a little uphill from your left foot, and vice-versa for carving right. good luck.

in a recent freeze its a trick tip, make sure your skis are staggered, that is having one infront of the other not both even...if that makes sense to you

just make sure you check your angles. i was at keystone the other day cruisin down dutchman and this dumb aspen soccer mom came outta nowhere and we collided and she cried and basically i was pissed because i broke my pole.

Ezekiel 25:17

if you're turning right (to your left) look over your right shoulder. stagger stance, lean forward.

I ski switch every run that is boring because it helps with taking off and landing switch and it makes those runs more exciting

word, just practice and try and get ur edges in on both turns the most comforable way u can if it means u look over one shoulder or both

do it everytime you get off the lift for like 10 turns or something. after a week you'll be much more comfortable and able to control it.

it's the exact same thing than skiing regular except you're looking behind you, it's all about edge to edge and centering on your skis. practice and you will get it more and more, when you're skiing just ski switch, that's what I was doing last winter and I ended up doing every runs switch except moguls and glades

yeah, I always do my last run down a really long blue and just ski switch the whole thing. It helps and on the steep parts i bomb to get teh sensation of going for a hit.

agreed. As for leaning forward... would you lean back when carving going regular? No. So don't listen to whoever posted that. It's just about finding your comfort zone, getting confident (so you can build up speed, because you cant carve reg or switch without any speed) and practice.

I've been practing it a lot lately. So far at killington the park is only mediocre, and itsn't where i want to spend the day, so i'm out on the rest of the mountain finding natural jibs, and learning to carve fakie.

Ski like you fuck; fast and hard with a stupid grin on your face.

to trixta: leaning forward helps because if you lean forward and turn your hips, you can see a lot more than if you were just standing up looking back over your shoulder. keep pressure on the front of your boots and most importantly stagger your feet. remember to turn your hips a lot so that you can see more.

my level of radness... it just can't... be quantified.

i think that leaning forward helps when you first start out, and then once you're comfortable, you can start leaning back and evening your weight and looking steezy.

Ezekiel 25:17

Just straitline the trail and don't look back. You'll do just fine.

ride switch whenever possible. start doing the steeper runs switch. do everything possible switch. then you will get better.

as soon as you realize that skiing switch is about a million times funner than going forwards you'll get it in no time. I think i can ski switch better than normal now just because skiing normally isnt as much fun, either your straightlining, doing a trick, or you should be going switch

If I had more energy, I'd burn that young mans face

leaning forward is a really stupid idea, don't,i mean don't do that at all. Just find your comfort zone. If you lean forward carving switch your just going to wash out when you turn, or ride ur noses too much. Its all about your lead ski and getting into a nice flow, looking over your shoulder and such. Just practice on some smallers slopes then take it to something steeper.

it's not carving, but i try to get in a super steep switch run every once in awhile. because, if you're not TOTALLY on your game switch, you're going to fall on your ass. that helps alot with general fakie riding.
