Carrying skis

hey just wondering if anyone can give me any advice or can recommend any device or system to help lug my skis up the mountain when hiking for fresh pow? cheers g

Carry them? if your doing long hike, you might want to use the straps on your pack. other wise, just carry them like everyone else.

A ski pack is probably the secksiest idea. The way i find easiest without a pack is to put my skis horizontally across my back like you have probably seen snowboarders do and i rest the binding of one ski on my belt.

make sure the toe piece of the binding is behind your shoulder, that way you can lean into the mtn better and your balance will be better

Well obviously backpack is the easiest, but you can also throw them over a shoulder or carry them at your side...if its steep and deep you can bootpack the ladder, using your skis out horizontally in front of you. You take a step, move them forward, another step, forward, etc...

i bought a black dakine heli pro for like 25 bucks at rei before freshman year in high school (2 years now), by far the best purchase i have made in a long time. works for school and skiing. go for it

use a pack and put your poles in your hands and hike up using those, if it's not deep put one ski in each hand, if it is deep then put them over your shoulder and use both poles in one hand and if it's super deep use them to bootpack by putting them out in front

take you poles and put one loop around your skis on one end, then put the other loop around the other end and then, put the tips of each pole in the loop of the other. if u do it right it turns into a lil ski suit case (u gotta hold it in the middle of your poles like a handle)
