does anyone here go to Carleton? I went to ottawa in the summer for university tours and that was one of the places i visited. it was pretty sick university and im seriously thinking about going there next year for business/commerce .

on a side note, is ottawa a good place to ski? I live in toronto btw..

oh and i saw IF3 posters there while i was visiting :)

yay! my pro poster skills. i dont know carleton that well so i hope i put it in a decent spot. i go to ottawa u myself. and as far as skiing goes i'm saying Ottawa is best in Ontario. Camp fortune 15 minutes away which is always decent with 2 for 1 skiing tuesdays and saturday nights, park last year wasnt too bad, but could be better. then Edelweiss about 20 minutes further with a kick ass park always, and hills like Mont Saint Marie not too far and the Gatineau hills has some decent East coast backcountry if you know where to look. and we also have not too bad urbans all around the city. I think one of the rails at Carleton was in a segment in an older MSP movie or something, maybe Cusson? i dont remember at all. but yea, theres my speal on O-town

Agreed dude....I am originally from Barrie and now Im going to Carleton, the skiing is pretty good with good hills close and Carleton has a legit ski and snowboard club with weekly discount bus trips to Tremblant and they hold an annual jib comp on campus (JIB TEST). The best part of Carleton is that sick quad kink...

Its a good time, it should be a good choice...

I just moved into rez at carleton the other week. I've seen so many hand rails around campus and the city it's unreal. I'm in the commerce program too and from what I've had so far, the profs seem sweet but down to business at the same time.

^^ i live two doors down from you, we have the same internet connections, so somehow your music library shows on my itunes, saw idea, thought that was pretty cool

carleton, yes. go to carleton, stay at carleton. its sick.

i heard some asshole runs a sweet ski and snowboard club there.... check it out www.cuskiandsnowboard.com

and yes, i am totally plugging my own club after not being on ns in like 4 years.

carleton is good for skiing, cause its close to tremblant (2 hours or slightly less) but the partying is not as good as any other school. if your going to go to school away from home you might as well go out west if your looking for a school with good skiing.

Bumpity bump bitches..

Elliot Benjamin is the name of the real club co-ordinator at Carleton.

Facebook him, he's a good dude.

Hooray NS!

but also, the ski and snowboard club is legit. getting to go to tremblant every week for cheap kept me sane last year, the rest of the mountain is dope. also, le p'tit caribou has 2 dollar beers at 2 o'clock, and the bus rides home are pretty rad, its a good time.

Any tips? Carleton specific, and just university in general haha. How many people are in the ski club?

middle of winter 3 busfulls went every week

for university, go to as much class as you think you need, study as much as you think you need, get fucked all other times. that's basically how it goes. if you're in res, don't be stupid about smoking in your room but if you're cautious enough its no problem. do frosh, because while some of the stuff is kinda lame, you meet a bunch of people and if the end of frosh party (sunday sunday sunday) is anything like it was last year, its worth the full week of 7:30 mornings. at carleton specifically, you can swim for free pretty much every night, got a diving board and 5-7m platforms that you can throw shit off of, its super fun. ollies on thursdays if you're 19, or any time really. check out the quad kink too, its pretty rad, you have to find it yourself though.

half my friends go to Carleton, just some friendly rivalry

buuut, the residences at Ottawa U ARE better. as in at Carleton they barely let you make noise and you can't have alcohol and give stupid fines for that shit while at Ottawa U the only rule is no glass in the hallways. you do get the occasional noise complaint, but they don't fine you for it.

tremblant is a bit less than 2 hours away, and edelweiss is about 40 mins, and both the parks are sick !

haha wow i made this a while ago.

Update:

Applied and Got into Western, Mcmaster, Uottawa, Carleton, Ryerson, Guelph

all for commerce/business, with scholarships blah blah blah..

carleton and uottawa actually offered me the most out of all the universitys

narrowed it down to carleton, mcmaster and guelph

DID NOT take Western because I was not guaranteed ivey and wouldn't be doing actual business til 2nd or 3rd year, didnt want to chance it|

picked mcmaster in the end !

im pretty happy with my choice but at the same time guelph or carleton would have been equally fun

skiing in carleton would be prob been the best. One of my good friends was pretty pissed that i didn't take carleton offer since i had told him in the winter that I was dead set on going there, and he applied there cause i did haha but that was before i knew had that many choices :D

5 days until I move in! Holy shit :D. Is there any trampolines in Carleton? Any acrobatics teams and what not that you guys are aware of?

Only actual legit tramp places I know of in Ottawa are Spring Action at the corner of Rideau and Chapel right downtown and Ottawa Gymnastics Centre in Westboro. There may be another somewhere.

if you're just going for tramping and nothing else, I like Spring Action. never too many people and it's pretty relaxed. and I think for the fall it's 15/hour or 10/hour if you become a member. but OGC has a lot more stuff, more than just tramps. Not too sure on the pricing of it though

for OGC, they have adult drop in sessions that are monday and wednesday nights from 8:45 to 10:45 i believe.
You pay 20 $ the first time you go, then 7$ every other time. They have 2 coaches there for the session, and theres normally around 35-40 ppl that attend. They start with a cardio run and stretch also, so its a decent workout.
They have 1 in-ground tramp and 2 above grounds.
Its pretty good, i liked it. the coaches knew quite a bit.

anyone see the quad kink at the confederation o-train stop? im hitting that up this winter multiple times if anyone wants to join? and i think there is a down rail at the bayview stop as well

randalls is pretty sick, but they are starting to get pissed off about the amount of people coming to hit it. the otrain ones arent near a busy road like st joseph, right?

near the corner of st joseph and jeanne darc, about 2 or 3 strip malls closer to place dorleans on the highway side. its dope, ive been

I might be going here!!! im from nb and really want someplace to ski and go to school. anyone like it so far?!
