Caribbean...

So I'm graduating hs in June and for my graduation present, my parents are paying for plane tickets to somewhere "not too far away." Europe is out of the question because I will have to pay for everything else. I can go somewhere for a week with a group of about 4-6 in August. I was thinking about somewhere in the Caribbean... like St. John's or something. I've been to some places in the Caribbean before, but does anyone have suggestions for towns to stay in for a week? We are thinking about pooling our (quite limited) funds and staying in a small house right by a beach...

do you want to travel continuously or set some roots and stay for a while?
whats your budget? europes doesnt have to be expensive, and there is also an eastern europe which is dirt cheap

maybe stick to a hotel? i don't remember how safe everything thats not a hotel is over there anymore. might be safe, might be like the rest of mexico.

turcs and caicos sickest water ever... if you surf dont because they waves lack. if your surfing tortola or nicaragua... turcs and caicos for relaxation though

US Virgin Islands are definitely safe. I was thinking about St. Thomas or St. John. I really think with the amount of people that are going, it makes more sense to pool our money and rent a small house... it will be cheaper and we can save money by making our own meals.

Europe is a no according to my parents...

I've been there before and will travel there in college, so it's not a big deal.

I've been to the British Virgin Islands a few times, my dad owns a share in a sailboat so we've gone and sailed between the islands. I could help you out if you're wondering about going to the BVI's, I don't know much about the U.S. Virgin Islands though.

she knows what she's talking about. st. barths is pretty tight if you know where to look on the island. gustavia is really fun at night, and there are some other fun little bar/club things scattered throughout the island. the beaches are prime too, and the plane ride from st. maarten to st. barths is fucking gnarly!

Try Baja Mexico.

Ensenada, La Paz, Mexicali, Cabo san Lucas, San Jose, Tecate, Tijuana....

Its pretty much like the carribean but cheaper, plus Baja Mexico doesnt really have the crime that mainland mexico has.

Well... I would go there...

However, there is a drug war going on...

Tons of Americans are getting kidnapped. I don't think I want to be kidnapped by Mexicans and raped up the ass and be thrown into the middle of a drug war.

Barbados is sick i am going for 9 days the egining of june this year. I have been 2 times. both times i loved it but istayed in really sick hotel. The Crane. Its like 200 a night probly not what your looking for. Barbados has great beaches though

St. John is pretty fun. Caneel Bay is gorgeous and has really really good restaurants, go there if you get a chance. There are a lot of fun hikes through the sugar mill ruins, too. Taking the ferry to the BVI is worthwhile, definitely go to The Baths on Virgin Gorda if you get a chance. It's one of my favorite spots in the Caribbean. Can you scuba dive?

Also, while St. Thomas has a good night life and good shopping, I think it's a bit more sketchy than St. John. Not bad compared to some places though.

Either Martinique or St. Maarten, which is my favorite island in the Caribbean!! The french side is definitely the way to go, especially Grand Case...it is beautiful! Just stay away from St. Lucia if anyone recommends that island to you, hope that helps! Have fun :D

LOL

None of that shit you just listed is going on in the main cities of the Baja Penninsula. Its about as safe there as the rest of the carribean.

Go to Grand Cayman. Highest standard of living in the Caribbean. The place is clean. Also, a lot of rich people hide their money there.
