Car/Truck Crashes

Last night was a scary night and I'm thankful to be alive. I was doing 25 and my throttle stuck open and pinned itself. I lost control and overcorrected and sent my truck off a 15 foot ravine doing about 45 and spectacularly missed every large tree. If I hadn't correct my truck before i left the road, I wouldn't be here right now.

So NS, let's hear your stories.

well shit. I didn't know a throttle could get stuck like that. couldn't turn off your truck, fuck up your gears, but but not go flying off a ravine?

Not trying to be a dick, but the hell were you doing with the wheel that you flew off the road at 45? there's not that many corners you can't make at 45.

Did you try the brakes or shifting into neutral?

I've had it happen before but not extreme, I could hit the pedal from the side with my foot and it'd come back.

Glad you're alright though. I remember a story of somebody having that happen in southern california and I think everyone died. Might have been on the freeway and they just took off.

I haven't had any "serious" situations on the road, I have had some on the track though. I was racing up at BIR one weekend last year and I think it was my second time trial. I got to the end of the track and the throttle cable stuck and I kept going. Keep in mind now I was going 170 mph as I crossed the finish line and there is only so much room to stop before you end up in the woods. Anyways, after about 3 seconds I was able to find the fuel pump and ignition switch. I always thought the blind emergency procedure test (Where they cover your helmet visor and tell you to safely shut the car off in under 4 seconds) was kindof pointless until that experience.

With a throttle cable, it can.

I was going 25 and the throttle just pinned itself and started spinning the tires on the dirt road to where I couldnt control it. The rear end started kicking out to the right and I overcorrected and sent it the other way side ways and it corrected once more and went straight off. The turn was rather large. If I would have hit the brake, I would have just slid, and I couldn not shift because I drive an auto.

Should have shifted to neutral.

I drive an auto haha

should have aimed for a big pile of pillows.

I in a sense did since the truck still runs even after catching 10-15 feet of air and it also still drives and I don't have a single scratch or bruise on me and am in no pain.

From the point of when it locked itself open to when it went off the ridge was about 2 seconds. No human could think and act that fast.

I mean....it's a pretty logical thing to do, and its just a flick of the wrist....hell you could have just slammed the lever up. With the safety override it just puts your car in neutral. Pretty easy.

glad your safe though.

my story-

15 years old and decide to race my friends, end up taking a corner rough at 35mph at 70mph. Drift the entire thing, but came out wide and hit some gravel. Rolled into a hillside and tumbled 2.5 times. No seatbelt, all the windows open. I'm so lucky to be alive. Just a bunch of staples in the head, and some stitches in the leg, not to mention the 1000 cuts on my hands from punching and ripping the windshield off. Luckily my buddy riding shotgun was wearing his seatbelt and was not injure.

I still don't understand how I could be such an idiot, and defiantly not something I'm too proud of. I'll see if I can find some pictures.

Pretty basic crash, driving to get a pizza at night after a snow storm. Going down a dirt road in 4wd I went around a slight turn and hit the brakes, wheels locked and I was stuck between a tree and a rock wall before I knew it. The truck was barely totaled but still had to be tossed away. The shitty thing is the building with our towns sand trucks were a mile away and they didn't even bother sanding the roads right next to them.

So you fish tailed twice and corrected it back straight in 2 seconds? And while fishtailing and spinning tires on a dirt road your vehicle sped up from 25 to 45 in 2 seconds? Ya ok lol.

Its fine just admit you were texting and not paying attention.

I've had my throttle cable get stuck before, but fortunately it was a manual transmission so I just slammed the clutch to the floor while I stomped on the pedal to get it unstuck.

In a storm with zero visibility and 4 ft drifts, tying to keep speed to continue blowing through them. Out of the blowing snow apears a semi sideways. Bootleg and start sliding backwards towards, put the pedal down and pull away from it. Felt really cool, until I hit a f150 head on as I pulled away from the semi.

Yes I wish tailed twice, it kicked out the first time to the right and I started going left so I correct then the bed whipped to the left and I started going left and then it corrected straight towards the edge and drove right off. 45 is what the speedometer read. probably was in the 30-35mph range but my tires were spinning out so yeah.

I don't text and drive, I'm not a dumbass.

oooo.... probably shoudnt admit that to youre parents or insurance.

My tiny little Fiesta got mopped up by a van about a month ago. Didn't even have 2000 miles on the it and totaled.

Now the other guys insurance will be paying for my new car so all ended well.

Where he went off it's a sketchy dirt road with a ton of twists and turns.

rolled into a tree at 4 mph on our driveway on an icy/rainy day, in my parents car. Really fucked up the radiator and ac and my wallet but I'm glad the airbag didnt go off

kinda glad I didnt get to leave our driveway though cause someone flipped off the road and into a brook down the street.
