Ok so ive been looking for a car for a long time now, and have been screwed out of all three which were all manual cars. So lately ive been seeing the exact car im gonna get all over the place (1997 accord EX) But in automatic. Now dont call me a bitch for considering auto because i KNOW how to drive standard and absolutely love it, its just i cannot find this car with a manual tran. So my question is will i regret getting an auto?, even thought it will still be really fast?

im just so sick and tired of looking for cars and i found the perfect car 1997 accord EX Coupe Black, but tis fucking auto. so at this point im think fuckit i just need a car. what you guys think
 
You know you want a car, and you know that car is a nice car, and just because it doesnt have manual transmition doesnt mean you cant go fast (or do good burnouts). I say get the car.
 
I drive a standard and i dont think i could ever drive an autmatic again... once and a while i have to drive my moms car or my sisters car and they are both auto and i just cant stand driving them. i suggest to keep on looking for the standard, ull enjoy it more.
 
alright then

i have a manual. and it is so much better. driving is a lot more fun too with manual

auto tranny is just plain boring.
 
if you think yer gonna regret having an automatic dont get it. its not worth spending all that money for it if yer not gonna like it. i have a 98 accord ex and its a standard and i love it.

But as my stand point, in needing a car and wanting one so bad do you think ill live just getting auto or is it worth the unknown time to wait for standard? i was thinging get this friive it for a couple years and get a sick car in standard beacause im still in hs.

I learned how to drive on a manual then got an automatic for my first car and hated it so I sold it and got a manual and then it crapped out on me and I got a automatic... It might bug you for a little bit... but you'll probably get over it fast.

i say wait. unless the car is super rare (which an accord coupe is not) then chances are a black stick will come on the market fairly soon. when you're spending thousands of dollars, you might as well get what you want.
 
hahha what the hell do you want me to get a fucking shitty american car? or how about a high mileage euro car that will be soooo expensive to maintain? im not spending of 5k and the accord is perfect, 100x better than a civic and yes it has plenty of power for me. EX's are really fast. Vtec motor with around 150 orse power in a small car is more than enough. im not a gay street racer so thiss is the car.
 
I don't know why you keep saying that they are really fast. There is nothing fast about a stock accord, and the difference between the f22b1 and the f22b2 is one says vtec on the valve cover and one doesn't. Driveability wise the difference isn't worth spending the extra for an ex, but it will allow you to put lots of cool vtec stickers on it without being a complete poser.
 
if you really wnat a manual car get one, cus if i would get a car it would be manual...however anything else such as an suv or pick up i would get an automatic tranny...just keep looking
 
not true, it all depends on the trans. if you have a shitty car with a shitty trans, you are gonna be really weak. Chances are you are gonna get better 60' times with a 5soeed
 
first off, accord ex is not fast. second if you realy want it, you can always do an auto to manual conversion. thridly dont buy an something you are unsure about. get what you want

The auto is not faster off the line if you know how to shift properly. If you take 3 seconds to go from first to second then yeah, itll be quicker.

And what are you talking about downshifting? like cornering? or coming to a stop?
 
Id go stick 10 times out of 10. I used to drive an auto pickup truck, and now i drive a manual focus, and I'd never go back. Id start getting bored driving, and probably lose concentration on my driving...which as you all know, isnt that safe

Yea, stick is so much better. And man I feel ya, cars are hard to come around these days, and if you won't be happy with it, don't buy it.It's just how important stick is to ya. For me, I just started stick, like 2 weeks ago, I'm rockin that thing now and I'll never go back. Just there's so much more to do with stick. Burnouts are easier, revin the engine, all the good stuff comes with stick. Plus auto's boring. So whatever man, those are my reason's to get stick.

And who ever says auto's faster off the line should learn stick, you obvioulsy over-rev the engine and wait to long, or maybe too short for the gears. Wow, learn before you talk.

get the standard, i wanted a standard but got an auto for the same reason u want the auto and i hate it. get teh auto so much more fun and itws better to pick where u want to be in the rpms rather then where the gay auto tranny wants u to be
 
come on.. if you want fast camaros/trans ams are the only answer. sure an accord can be made to run with muscle, but then the drivability will suffer. you can pick up a decent mid mileage LT1 with 290 horesepower and 325 lb/ft of torque for about 7 or 8 grand. For 12 you can get one with an LS1 (true rating is about 345 hp and 330 torque) for as low as 12 grand. Mileage in the city gives you about 20 mpg and 28 on the highway. In my opinion, its the best compromise betweeen fast badass oldschool muscle and slow poser vtec rice. I know thats the car im getting

i say hold out for the manual tranny. or just find a similar car with a manual. sounds like you got your heart set on the accord but i say do what you gotta do to get a manual car, youll like it much better. maybe in the time your waiting youll get a little extra cash and find a manual v6 accord(200 hp) to give ya a little more kick.

people buy the EX so they can say it has 170 hp. Don't buy a honda sedan for horsepower, please. If horsepower matters get a mustang, or a truck or something. On another note, manual transmissions are so much better, b/c you get better gas mileage and its just more fun. I have the 97 accord LX and its great.
