For some reason the check engine light on my '03 Ford Crown Victoria

police interceptor has gone off. I just bought it about a month ago for

2 grand and had a tune up on it. It used to shake when accelerating,

but we got that fixed..then just about a week ago i was joy riding with

my friends and floored it, it seemed to of skipped a gear or just over

reved like crazy. And my check engine light was flashing at me. And it

hasnt turned off sense then, but at least it stopped flashing. And just

today the shaking when i accelerate came back. Any ideas to what is

wrong?

not sure what that could be, but if you go to auto zone they will let you use their OBD2 code readers to see what is wrong. Then you can figure out where to go form there. I mean it could be a whole bunch of things, but i would definitely try to get a code reader to figure out whats up with it.

thats what some people at school have told me. But when i accelerate its pretty fine, just when i give it a little gas at about 51 MPH i feel my car start to shake.

Which is pushing towards the end of the cars life... Just go get it checked out so you dont end up crashing. my friends lincoln towncar had almost a similar issue and when he got going pretty fast something happened to the car and he lost control and completly totaled his car.

I'm pretty sure the code that the car is throwing is gonna tell you what's wrong a lot faster and more accurately than NS. Get yourself to auto zone or pepboys and borrow their code reader. Could be something completely unrelated to the shaking like an o2 sensor or some bullshit, but check anyway.

that is no where near to the end of a cars life. Before my grandma stopped driving and gave me her car i was driving an izuzu rodeo with 235k miles on it

um yea... cars do start to fall apart around 150k though. and it depends how the car was treated and maintained. buying an old cop car isnt the best thing to do seeing how they are speeding around everywhere working the car pretty hard.

if you have a faulty o2 sensor you can feel a shaking in the car due to misfiring or engine pinging. your o2 sensor works with your ecu to adjust your fuel/air ratio and if it is malfunctioning can cause this

actually buying a used police car is better then buying the same exact car but owned by a regular person. The police departments maintain the cars to manufacturers highest standards as opposed to a regular person who only brings the car in once i awhile to change the oil

My car shakes when I accelerate, it sounds like the muffler is fucked up, but its either the strut or compressor, I hope to God its not the compressor because that'll be about $600. fml.

Sounds like something internal, it could be anything really, but my guess is that you will get a shift timing/tranny solenoid code. Usually if you rail on it hard it can fuck with the timing chain. Then your car is fucked.

239 hp is something. And a ill take a v8 over anything else anyday. I like to drive a car that may not be quick, but has power. What kinda car are you driving?

its a police interceptor dipshit, obviously its a v8. a bone stock 99-04 mustang gt has about the same horsepower (the ford website says 260 but its horseshit ive seen a dyno run) i bet you probably have a really sweet car with at least like 1000 horsepower right?!!?!?!

go have a diagnostics check up on your car. make sure they dont just disconnect your engine light. i worked at an autobody shop and we had a shitty mechanic. had the same car come in 5 different times for engine light. he eventually couldnt fix it and just disconnected it. there is a possibility that ur engine light turns on because the sensor is hitting the ground that is what seems to be the problem with my moms car.

goodluck with it tho.

by the way i wish i had a v8 car over my 1/4 ton v8 truck even tho its a beast.

alright sick dude i love how this kid is just asking for some help and you just gotta come in here and bash him. fuck you

bought it this year. and yea im old enough to drive you fuckin idiot. cop cars are still shit. only ones i would buy are the new chargers.

239hp=nice nicev8= woot!
8.6sec=HAHAHAHHAHA
sorry bro but i gotta go with chris on this one, cop cars are kinda cool, for siuper cheap, but my car (2000 saab 9-3 2.0t) will outrun one where ever you want.

yah thats not with an empty trunk. I can get 7.3 with empty trunk. But yah, i catch your drift. If you wanna put a lot of money into your car then i feel you, Saab is a good car. But i just wanna put mabye 2-3 grand into my car with Super 44's and a supercharger. Im sure then the sound itself would scare your Saab lol. Just fuckin round man lol.

ha i win i have a 79 mercedes 300sd with 350k on it!

but you might just need to get the wheels realigned, that makes cars shake a little at higher speeds.

but go to a shop, they'll help you out more than we will

my R will eat both of you, so both of you gtfo...

to the op - the guy that mentioned the obd2 scanner at autozone or whatever is spot on. they'll give you a code and then you know where to go from there. there are probably over 100 different CELs on your ecu so you can't tell for sure unless you read it. (they do this for free)

otherwise, if it was a one time thing, or you think it was, unplug the negative terminal on your battery and leave it off for 10-20 minutes...that should reset your ecu and get rid of the CEL. If you flip the code again fairly quickly, then you'll know for sure it wasn't a bogus code and something needs fixed. o2 sensors are a fairly common cause of CELs, but yeah purely speculation until you read it.

7.3's pretty decent, i think thats about what my car is goo for stock, and its not too fast (base model-185crank hp)
and v8 sound > turbo 4 banger all day haha, no doubt there.
for the original problem, im not sure, but if its throwing a CEL, autozone is your best ebt, its free and will tell you whats up.

damn, nice build..

also, lebanon valley? haha thats literally about a half hour away from where i live
