Car opinions: STI hatch, GTI, Tc

STi's only come in 6-speed manual, and I am not sure about the R. The GTI if you get the 4-door, you have to get the DSG (this could have changed, this is just what it was when I worked at a dealer a few years back).

mkvi R is 6 speed manual only in north america. gti has NEVER been dsg only in any option. the only model that was dsg only is the mkv r32.

that being said. op i would compare the sti and golf r, its not really fair to compare a awd hatch to a (cheaper) fwd hatch. i drive an 07 gti 6 speed manual, absolutely love it, works fantastic in the snow if that is a concern, but the only thing i would change is awd instead of fwd.

personally, as a vw/audi lover, id say go golf r over sti, and if you do, pick up a haldex controller upgrade, itll make it drive with more torque to the rear, which is always more fun

Have you seen how many wrx/sti's NSer's have?

If a lot of people have the same car that doesn't make it overrated, it might make it a little played out though

My bad. The only 4 doors we got at the dealer were DSG's.

By comparing a tc to an sti and gti it it looks like you don't know anything about cars.

If that's the case maybe an sti isn't a good idea.

My dad's sti is constantly being tuned and fixed in our garage but he does it all himself.

If you can do engine and ecu work yourself go for it, but if not a gti would be an awesome daily.

Best of luck
