i checked what i would have to pay (connecticut/16 year old male) on progressive.com. it was like, cheapest (not recommened), $478 a month. they recommened $5,349 for 6 months. holy fuck. but because my dad doesn't drive anymore, we're both part time drivers, cutting it down sooo much to like 600 for 6 months.

i dont know what its like in the US, but in canada if you're under 25 you're gonna get raped on insurance regardless.

Insurance on a 92 Golf runs ~350 a month.

Wow throwback bump, my question is as follows: what would I be looking at as an 18 yr old with 1 speeding ticket for yearly insurance on a wrx compared to a forester or an outback?

What year would it be and how much third party?

Tbh best bet just call and insurance broker and ask for a quote

Best thing to do is get an older Forester, and swap a wrx engine in it. You get the way cheaper rates with the Foz, but still the speed of the wrx. That's what I did at least and it's saving me about $60 a month on insurance.

Aw fuck. I live in Colorado. I pay $1200/6 months for a '14 F150 and '04 TSX through Progressive. My R6 and GSXR cost $1200 to insure for a year.

Thing is, I crashed my R6 earlier this year and racked up over 8k in hospital bills (had medical through my motorcycle policy), and a couple weeks ago I rear ended someone in my truck, costing $10k in repairs for my truck alone, not sure how much they had to pay the other guy cause I was at fault.

All this on top of the fact that I've hardly had a license for the past 4 years because I've been close to losing it due to points from speeding tickets.

If Progressive doesn't drop me this year, it'll be interesting to see how much they ask for...I've since renewed my motorcycle policy since that crash and the premium didn't change, but I expect it to if they don't drop me. State Farm dropped me earlier this year for my truck and car. Not sure why, I didn't have a single new ticket since I had them but maybe they looked into my record and could tell I had to hire a lawyer to keep my license (you know, shit like 'defective vehicle', 'defective headlamp', 'improper mountain driving' instead of all moving violations/speeding tickets

Also, I know, I'm an asshole...

Isn't the problem the turbo though? Won't the insurance company realize there's a turbo after the inspection?

Haha, americans complaining about car insurance rates. When I was 17 I was paying like 4 grand a year for insurance. Long live the UK... not.

Third party, the amount the insurance company will pay somebody you hit. Also need to consider if you want collision insurance as well

I'm not versed on any of this, I should probably read up on it. What I've grabbed so far is that wrx's rank pretty close to the top regarding insurance cost.

Honestly just call any insurance provider and they should give you quote and walk you through the different options

I figured this out literally 10 years ago.

although it looks like I fucked up mega hard lol

When I told the insurance company I was doing a swap they just asked if the engine was bigger than before, which it's actually smaller a 2.0 liter instead of a 2.5. Anyway they didn't seem to care that it was turboed, just if it was bigger or not.

They do, but not by much. At least for my 99 Forester that's the case, I'm not sure about the newer ones.

My E30 was $280 Canadian which is like $220 USD for the whole year with full coverage. Works out to about $23 a month lol I pay that shit in one shot though. Classic car insurance ftw.

Amica

Best insurance out there imo. They don't have shitty commercials and the coverage is good, the price is good. They just started advertising on tv this winter once in a great while.

Or buy geico or some other garbage insurance because you think they're garbage commercials are funny.
