My parents told me I could get any subaru I wanted. So I have been trying to decide between the impreza WRX (stick shift) or the impreza outback sport (automatic). So basically do you think I should get stick shift or automatic???GREAT KARMA FOR GREAT ANSWERS!!!!

Both are good cars. You can't really go wrong with either of them, but the wrx will be more fun to drive.

this.

Have fun with people making fun of you for your daddy buying you it and for not knowing shit about it. its sad you have to come on here to ask us which one. Implying you dont know how to drive a standard, you will have to learn on the one you will have. i would not recommend it as it being your "new" car.

Ummmmm.....
Sooo....
Wow.
I drive an impreza outback standard. I love it. I would have gotten the WRX but the insurance was significantly more expensive.
I really don't know how manual vs automatic is even a question. When I see subarus with automatic transmissions, I get a bit sad.

as a fellow subaru owner, I say get the stick. my family has been proud subi owners for all of my life. so its kinda in my blood you could say. currently i own a subaru legacy l, and its stick. it is so much fun to drive. the way that stick subarus handle and they way they feel when you drive them is great. i love my car so much i choose to drive it over my mom mercedes benz. all in all i love my car and you should deff get the stick

whichever you get pleeeeease get a stick shift. Better gas milage, a simpler system (easier repairs), and so much more fun to drive. Unless you live in downtown LA or Manhattan, you will never regret buying a stick shift

subaru's are some of the greatest cars ever mad, my dad had one that had 265K on it before it blew a head gasket. the only reason that he junked it was because he didn't want to do the head gasket. then bought pretty much the same car with less miles and in white. took all the good parts of it saved them for if something goes wrong on this one that he is driving currently

Completely false. If anything, driving a manual is more of a pain around the city when you're constantly stopping for traffic, stop signs, and red lights. On long drives you're usually cruising on the highway in 5th or 6th. With that said, get a manual transmission. Automatics are boring as fuck, and you have way more control over your car with a manual. This kid I quoted obviously doesn't drive.

Go find one of the very few Forester STI that they made.. All the go fast of the Impreza STI with room to camp in the back if you need/ want to.. I love my forester and being able to camp out of the back of it and all the shit you can fit in the back, plus more if you have racks on top, just my little N/A 4 cylinder doesnt go anywhere fast with 130HP haha

Plus its bad ass having a functional car that still will haul ass. I will do a WRX swap in mine when (if ever) my motor dies..

is this like a joke or something??

have you ever owned or even driven a manual?

I would get the WRX if I had that choice. Its a WRX it looks better, its more fun, its fast, and its a manual!

Learning to drive a manual and mastering it is probably the best thing you can do if you drive a car. That being said, once you learn to use the manual decently you will soon realize that it is FAR superior to an automatic.

yeah this.

if you are constantly in traffic you might not like the stick since you will have to constantly be clutching and shifting.

personally i had to get rid of my stick since over the summer i drove a truck that was a stick all day and couldnt stand double clutching, then after a 10-12 hour day get in my truck and have to shift that.

however now i regret it, they are definitely more fun to drive.

its a debatable topic, but if you get any type of sports car i would get a stick.

the big thing is do you already know how to drive stick? if you dont i wouldnt try to learn in a new suby. get an old yoter and practice so you dont burn your clutch in your new car.

The low power is my biggest burden with a Subaru. Especially if you're in the mountains. At 7,000 feet that engine is a whole lot less powerful and really just blows if going uphill with a decent load.

OP, get the WRX so you can make up for that power loss in the mountains and have a fun time driving.

if this is honestly a question you do not deserve a car... and why do you want a subaru so badly anyways?

stick, you get used to it. then when people want u to drive u can say i dont know how to drive automatic and when people say o, i can drive ur car, u say, its stick sorry, works great for me and i drive a 99 camery

Is this your first car??

Stick is obviously harder to learn in but it can be done. Auto is only good for eating and holding your gf's hand while driving.

If you like the details of driving and having in depth control over your vehicle get stick. If you wanna push the pedal and go get auto.

^ I wouldn't take advice from anyone who can't spell their own vehicle.

Are both cars new?

Do you have to pay for insurance and gas?

When my Ex and I were looking at a new car for her, the choice was clear. Impreza sport was $10k cheaper, got better gas mileage, cheaper to insure, and did not require premium gas.

Get the WRX stick shift is so much fun to drive. i have a 2000 nissan maxima and its by far more fun to drive than my dads maxima which is auto.
