Car help (+k)

Hey guys, I don't know much about cars, but I have a minivan, and I drove it over a big speedbump yesterday and smacked the bottom. Now it makes a weird spinning knocking noise when I drive around, but it's driving fine. I don't want to take it to a mechanic, because I'm low on cash and am not sure if there's even anything wrong with it. Any help would be appreciated.

Probably threw your drivetrain out of whack.. That's a big deal.But..... Its a minivan

Sooo... take it out and shoot it before it gives you heartache.

Front or rear wheel drive? And does it shake more than usual? If so does it shake more at a certain speed?

Yeah, if its doing something along these lines, you've maybe tossed a wheel weight.

If not, you've potentially hurt a u-joint or CV-joint in the drivetrain.

Driveshaft sounds very likely as well if its rwd. Could've unbalanced it when he bottomed out

Ball joints and cv joints arent a bad place to start. Like sai before, make sure none of the weights fell off your wheels

That's what you get when you slam your minivan

Could also be that a bearing went coincidentally? But yeah, tossing a weight or throwing your wheels out of alignment also cause that sound.

unless your wheels are very unbalanced usually not to noticeable unless stopping and driving at higher speeds, its very noticeable when braking. its even possible that you might have dented a rim but ya first thing to check are the easy things like your rims and tires for any clues

Just got way louder and a really hard knocking sound, I quit driving it, almost sounded like a nail gun.

I knocked off the front of my skid plate on my jeep and it was knocking against the ground. It was just hanging by the two screws in the back of the plate and i fixed it by throwing on some bigger washers under the plate

Make sure the cars steering wheel is in alignment. My car had a really bad rotating noise and then i got it aligned and havent heard it since it happened. If not have your wheel bearings checked

This. My moms car hit something and it ended up that her car needed to be aligned. It would make weird noises and the car rides would always be choppy and not smooth. After she got it fix it was a normal car again.

Not trying to thread jack too much here, but my suspension is starting to squeak like noticeably louder over bumps. Is this bad?

since you bottomed out its most likely in the suspension/wheels, especially since its fwd with no drive shaft going to the back, unless you hit so hard you rattled the engine and fucked up something in thereany idea where the sound is coming from? passenger side, driver side, front, back? try and do some tests so you can get an idea what it is such as not moving and reving the engine, and coasting and turning in neutral would help give you a general idea of what it could be

1. dump gasoline all over minivan

2. light minivan on fire

3. watch your stupid van go up in flames and be happy that you no longer have to drive it around

4. work and buy a cooler car

5. ???????

6. profit and bitches and no more minivan

your welcome

Cooler than this shit? Yeah right, it's unfuckwithable. And it's more convenient than any car I've ever been in, its got seven seats, ample leg room, a scoop trunk which allows stow and go storage with four seats remaining. Thats four sets of skis with four passengers and all their gear and they still have leg room. I

oh yea dude so much cooler than a STATIONWAGON which does the same damn thing with extra room and it's not gay as fuck..
