Car got louder?

So I took it in and they lifted it up and it was blatantly obvious. The exhaust pipe was rusted and split where it connected to another pipe about half way back under the car. They said they couldn't weld it back together since it was so rusted out then quoted me at 325$ for the new section of pipe and the gaskets. I don't even need a new muffler just that middle section of exhaust pipe. From what I heard on here I was expecting it to be a little less. Does that sound right? I just took it in to my local garage. should I try a muffler specific shop? It almost looked like I could just line the pipes back up and throw a bunch of JB weld on it to hold it in place to last for a while. Is that an option or sketch? thanks again for the help
 
I'm prety sure it's just the pipe and the two gaskets on either side. He said it would only be an hour of labor so I'm confused how it would cost over 300. But thanks I'll try somewhere else
