well i need to rant cuz i just got in my first accident just under 2 hours ago and i feel like shit.

so im coming home after dropping some1 off at their house. driving down this road, put my indicator on to go right, and try to slow down. hit the brakes and nothing. hit them again and nothing. at this point im basically at the stop sign going about 20-25mph with 2 cars coming from my right to my left going prolly around 40mph cause thats the speed limit. i didnt know what to do so i just tried turning to the left to avoid a complete smash(turning to the right woulda just caused head on collision and going straight woulda fucked up the other driver, and myself). so i bump off this lady in a minivan and spun into oncoming traffic. luckily i got off the road and parked, the other lady pulled over to the side. no injuries, the other lady went to the hospital because of coarse she said she was fine but her husband "is a doctor" and so she went to get checked. after about 30 mins or so i finally call my dad who suprisingly wasnt bugging out about it so he could pick me up. both cars towed to a garage where i know the owners and i get a ticket for not stopping at a stop sign. her front left wheel axel looked broken along with a few minor bumper issues, maybe a fixed door too, and the front of my car was just a mess. bumper, maybe a little framework, new hood...the whole deal. the lady behind the person i hit basically said the same exact thing i said. i looked like i was slowing down, wasnt trying to shoot across the road, had my indicator on, and turned to the direction she was going to try avoid it. so i can get the ticket reduced.

all of this of coarse comes when im about to have a great time. graduation tomorrow night, well i guess tonight now. leave for australia saturday, and now this...great way to start summer. i guess atleast im ok and the other person too so i can still go to graduation and aus.

anyone else got some car accident stories that will make me feel less awfull?

***spark notes*** i got in an accident 20 hours before graduation because for some reason my brakes didnt work wen i was supposed to stop and i slammed into some lady in a minivan. no one hurt, but damage could cost quite a bit.
 
aww man ryan that sucks aton... dont worry when i was in utah last week my sister crashed my car soo im out a car too..
 
Sucks manI know how it feels to not be able to turn or stop. I have had some pretty shitty black ice experiences.
 
can you seriously get a ticket for not stopping at a stop sign when your brakes fail? arent brakes kind of influential in your stopping abilities?

also ive never been in a bad crash but once backing out of my driveway when it was pitch black i hit a car, but it did no damage because it was slow enough.

 
"emergency" brake?

depends on how much time you had to react though... if the second attempt at the brakes was like reight before going into the intersection you pretty much did all you could do.
 
yo it could have been worse. on the news tonight, this 17yr old kid drove off a cliff and fell 1000 feet and was ejected. things can alwys be worse.

Rescue crews finished the rescue of a 17-year-old boy whose vehicle plunged 1,000 feet off Pikes Peak Highway about seven hours after the crash on Wednesday.

Rescue teams say he landed in an area called "The Bottomless Pit."

He was thrown from his car, but managed to survive. Initial reports said the boy was conscious, but had suffered extensive cuts.

Rescue crews spent hours getting him down and called a Black Hawk helicopter in to help rescue him, but it was unable to reach him.

Typical medical helicopters can't fly in the thin air at the 14,000 summit of Pikes Peak.

Fort Carson did not have a Black Hawk available, so Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora was contacted.

A Chinook helicopter with a heavier hoist eventually rescued the boy just before 9 p.m. and he was taken to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs.

daaaamn. falling 1000ft and surviving. i woulda just wish i didnt have to live that shit. ouch

and v, u said utah was great, but didnt mention not having a car anymore? lol

and yeah everythings good. put some icyhot on last night and some advil, just woke up and the shoulder feel aight. my dads at work and is gonna call the insurance and garage today to see whats up. no idea why nothing happened with the brakes tho. i guess ill find out later in the week. i leave for australia in 2 days until aug 1st so i dont really need the car, but it just sucks cuz i had plans on how to spend some money, and now they're changed.

its funny too cause ive always thought if im about to get into an accident, shift down and parking brake(its an automatic impala, so the parking brake is on the left of the actual brake and its got d,3,2,1), but it just happened so fast that i the only reaction i had was to turn to make the impact less severe. i think downshifting n p-brake coulda deff helped if i tried it wen the brakes first didnt work, but it was literally a hit the brake, nothing, hit the brake, turn to avoid crash, all that seemed to happen within a second or 2. i think that if i didnt turn i coulda seriously hurt the other lady. the left front of her car was pretty fucked up and i had just missed her door cuz i turned.

well im gonna go get ready for graduation and make index cards that tell the story so i can just hand them out instead of telling it 3248329577923 times. then hopefully my parents dont want me to rest tonight and i can go out and just get retarted to make myself feel better, and not drive.
 
yea my friend hit a moose the other night with his gf in the car. they were fine but the car was totaled. i guess the worst part was taht the moose was fuuucked up and didn't die for a while, and his girlfriend is a vegetarian so it wasn't good.
 
if it is a relativley new car call up the company or the dealer you got it from and be like wtf mate??? you sold me a car that had shitty brakes and make them pay for that shit... but if it is old like im guessing it is atleast no one got seriously hurt....
