if money wernt an issue i would say nay. i would rather see a murder or a child molester rapist behind bars doing slave labor in the frozen plains of manitoba or in the swealtering heat of alabama every day for the rest of their lives than letting them check out through execution... however, i am alwas supprised that the libs who cry day and night about the economy are generally against the death penalty... they would rather house these people for their entire lives in federal prisons, when they be executed and not have to be sucking up our tax dollars.....

Seems a bit cold to take lives for monetary reasons. How about giving them bread and water for the rest of their lives and having them live in a hellhole like they deserve, so their costs aren't so high? As it is, the quickest, cheapest way to a membership at a nice country club is robbing a bank.

Im all for it, as long as it is actually painful. Like in the manner that they kill the person, especially baby killers, people who kill there own kids, people who kill young people in general, or people who torture. Well 8 kids times 100 year sentences = 800 years in prison (solitary confinement). There is no way that fuck would ever get out alive (United States).

Knowing you are going to die alone in a prison cell (IMO) is FAR worse than being put to death.

Now for instance in Canada that guy would serve 1 35 year prsion sentence (?) because he would serve all eight murders and rapes at the same time. This guy is going to see the light of day eventually if he commits the crime before he's 40.

In fact, they would probably only charge him for ONE MURDER. That is because (In Canada) a single murder is 35 years. And 8 counts of rape, 8 counts of murder, and 8 counts of kidnapping would also only be 35 years.

This happened somewhere in Western Canada: A rapist and a murderer was put on charge for ONLY murdering the young girl.. because the result would be a 35 year sentence if convicted of both anyways (saves the legal system time and money). The mother went on television and said that 35 years was not enough for a RAPIST and a MURDERER.

Well, he had been convicted of murder.. but never convicted as a rapist. The guy in jail sued the mother of the girl he killed for slander, and took everything she had.

THAT IS FUCKED (and has got to be changed).

Yeah, both systems have there problems. But by the way, that story wasn't *technically* correct, if you're accused of different crimes you can get different sentences and not serve then simultaneously. If you're charged with rape and murder you get two separate convictions and serve BOTH of them. But you can't have 2 *life* sentences, you can have a life and a 25, or 2 25s, or 3 25s if there are 3 charges, etc. So that would have been 60 years, which is probably what the guy got, unless they had some other reason for not trying him for rape (ie: not enough evidence).

It's kind of humbling how close the states are to being tyrannical... no other modern, industrialised western nation employs the death penalty. But then, the US was always behind; Black voting, etc... I mean there's still the imperial system. And I'll bet gays won't be able to get married in the states for about 20 years.

No,there should be no capitol punishment.The legal system is kinda fucked up .Innocent people have been exicuted.

If you believe in life after death, capitol punishment makes no sense.

Killing someone only kills the physical.....the soul continues on, to return in another body...

consider this......if you execute a serial killer .....you are sentencing people in the future to death when the killers evil soul returns in another body to carry out what it had begun in a previous life

The way I look at it capital punishment is a win win situation a) if there is an afterlife rush them there because hell awaits b) if there is no afterlife and this is our one shot at living they shouldnt get the chance. You can still live a fufilling life inside your mind even if you are in jail, Jail would be similar to a dogs life you are fed, given freedom sparingly and you have a warm place to sleep at night I could think of worse places.
