Canyons new park

this is making my decision tough.

i got a bird pass for pow, and was planning on going with PC for park. but having been to both PC and canyons, i like the vibe better, and the park setup was cooler. but PC has night skiing. ahhhh the dilemma!

I'll believe it when I see it. The fact PC has night skiing til 9pm on picknshovel keeps PC > Canyons in my mind.

tough tough

fact that canyons is just $400 bones is dope and helps me as im out of school already and plus, you don't have to pay that extra like $200-250 just for the night

Bird for pow huh? I skied more pow at the canyons then I ever skied at the bird, shot gets tracked so fast! Canyons is the way to go!

Park City is still going to have the best park in Utah... They just build and maintain better than anyone else! It's science!!!

PC did a really sick job this year raking jumps when they were slushy, much better than the two years before. Back when there was jonesys (RIP) they would never rake pick in the spring and kings got raked like once a day.

as far as i knew, snowbird gets like 250 inches more per year? correct me if i'm wrong, i'm new to these parts.

Honestly, who is gonna go night skiing very often?? I guess if you're in school all day everyday then it's a good option, but personally I go skiing every DAY and don't really see the allure of going night skiing. i like chillin at night, or doing urban if anything.
All I'm saying, is most people go skiing all day, and after skiing all day I don't know why anyone would go night skiing. upgrading that PC pass sounds like a waste of money....

Last year (and probably this year) ill have days i have class from like 9 to 2 or 3, perfect time to head up to PC and ski til 9. There were tons of days i was like "fuck i wanna go skiing but dont wanna drive to PC to ski for 2 hours" and now i could go up at 5 and still get 4 hours in. Night skiing is real fun too, at least i think it is, i guess its all personal preference.

idk if its all that good for skiing but it sure makes for a good environment. people can get fucked up and ski and not worry to much about it and im from the east coast where i would always night ski so its definitely worth it for me

back to the thread topic......that new park is on an entirely new run which is right off of saddleback, so the other two parks aren't goin to exist at all. Saddleback would be crazy crowded in my opinion.

THIS!! Part of the beauty of multiple parks is it spreads the crowds...Saddleback is crowded enough as it is!

true that, if my schedule allows me to ski all I want during the day I don't see why I would prefer to ski when it's way colder. It's fucking epic for highschoolers though.

its true man. herd it from cooper hoffmiester himself. and its on there website how could you not believe it

night skiing just sounds cool... i will probably go like 5 times and it will be worth it

its pretty cool, i work at brighton and if i work all day with no riding (doesnt happen often) i like to go ride for a couple hours before i go home.

I think it will be cool to have the opportunity to shoot sunsets and at night every day

I believe he's talking about the Canyons. Obviously everyone knows PC will be lit until 9. He's saying that he'll believe in Canyons new epic park when/if he sees it.

PC til then.

I rarely agree with eheath..likely because we are both very argumentative...haha..but in this case eheath is right... PC>The Canyons....but you are welcome to keep PC less crowded if you like.

rest of the mountain closes at 4 unless it has lights on it..then it will stay open til 9...nothing closes then reopens.

ark City's park does have more people in it, I will grant you that. On occasion the line for Pick 'n Shovel does get slightly long I will also let you have that. However, I have rarely ever had to wait to hit any feature at Park City.
I would rather ski in a slightly crowded terrain park with really good jumps than ski in an uncrowded terrain park with poorly constructed ones. The jumps at The Canyons really do suck big time. Their rails/boxes are pretty fun, but their jumps are horrible.
If you ever ski Kings Crown you will realize that there is sometimes almost a lack of people in it. It is nice to have people around so that you can see how fast the conditions are, and so that if you do get hurt you aren't alone waiting for someone to find you. I would hate to be at The Canyons where you feel that way almost all the time. Kings Crown is almost never over crowded and the payday lift line is only crowded at Christmas.
The Canyons moving their entire terrain park to Saddleback is really going to cause some crowd problems though. That is the only crowded lift at The Canyons, and now it will have 2 or 3 times more people on it. Good luck skiing more crowds than you are used to in a sub-par terrain park. At least when Pick n Shovel gets crowded we have the option of hiking the pipe or riding Kings Crown.

go away willem pc could have ten parks and canyons would still be less crowded. the only legitimate argument one can make against the canyons is their shitty jumps and hey, i suck at jumping i couldnt really care less to be honest. some of my deepest best days happened in april last year at the canyons, and they could really be some of my best days yet. just bought a pass the other day and im stoked.

No one is talking about flow . 1.1 miles is a loooonnggg run. Thats what so sweet about Brightons park it went from top to bottom of Crest and it was awesome. Im super stoked for the canyons this year and happy to get away from the Lord of Flies atmosphere at PC's parks. If i had to deal with any more packs of little kids roaming the park, cutting people of im pretty sure i would go postal on the place

i'm so amped. my mom is a host at the resort so i'm getting a free night pass. gonna go shred rails after homework whenever i have time. so stoked.
i'm thinking about getting a canyons pass this year for epic pow. anyone want to let me in on some good spots to hit. i've never shredded pow there before and i'll probably spent a few days looking for lines beforehand but some tips would be appreciated.
