Cant you just say no?

if a resort employee with the power to take your pass asks for it can't you just say no and leave? and just come back with a different kit. maybe if it's a tiny mountain they'll see you again but still then what are they gonna do? call the police to search you for it, because you did whatever minor resort policy offense? i was just thinking about it bc last year a dude said he would take my pass if he saw me building a kicker again and the plan next season is to build a booter in a out of bounds section under a lift so i'm not tryna get that taken, and what happens if it does get taken? are just out 300-1000$ just like that?

Yeah if it comes down to it, the mtn has revoked your pass and you no longer have access to its services, and they can and will call the cops and the cops will likely have their back. Why wouldn't they?

Depends on the mtn of course but I assure you that some mtns will absolutely invite the authorities over

damn i get it if it's actually a big deal but like you duck a rope and the guys pissed off that day and there just like "yeah no more skiing for you"?

If a cop is brought in they're not going to be concerning themselves with who yanked your pass for what, for them it's pretty simple, you're a customer trying to use services that the business no longer considers you privileged to

that makes sense

Yeah so it's like, if a patrol sees you bein bad and you can ditch them without IDing yourself and you're all set to disguise yourself adequately for however long you need to...great

But if they ID you and decide your pass is dead, there's not much you can do besides appeal it or whatever. And being openly belligerent to them will mean you're fucked in that regard

yeah i'm starting think i should find a better place to build it but idk i think i'd probably be fine guess i'll decide in the winter

My hill has a 3 strike rule with most incidents but If your a seasons pass holder they usually just take it for a day and give it right back to you. At least on my experience

I once had an old guy (late 50’s) come up to me and tell me “If I ski backwards and out of control one more time he’ll call his friend who owns Breckinridge mountain to take my pass away”, keep in mind this guy had sunglasses with croakies on so… you tell me

At tremblant they used to shut the north park down early and the amount of times i would sneak in and get called a dumb american by the old farts on ski patrol was ridiculous, they always threatened to pull my pass but never did so i would say ur prolly good

ski patrol: “You were out of control so we’re gonna have to confiscate your pass and escort you down the hill”

Me: “no thanks bro, I’m good”

I have ducked rope and entered tremblant park too in my younger years

OP, try this one of for size - when I was an instructor for a vail resort, they told me (I think it was actually mountain safety or a ticket scanner) that if you blow past yellow jacket (mountain safety) and piss them off/ignore them - they can radio ticket scanners and describe what you look like. Ticket scanners will scan your pass like normal and when you come down to enter lift again - your pass will be blocked.

So be careful saying no at rfid resorts bruh

Now that’s scary. This is why I high five my yellow jackets

If a resort employee of any kind tries to physically stop you from leaving the property the ball is immediately in your court to sue for reckless endangerment etc.

This is why you don't be a dumbass and talk to anyone as far as ski patrol or someone working for the mountain when they say "come here" or "we need to talk". There always going to seem like everything is chill or not that bad till you're face to face and then they take your pass. Go on youtube and you can watch the video's where skier's/ snowboards try and talk things out with someone working for the mountain and it never works. Always just make a run for it and try and get away from them as this is a much better option than losing you're pass.

One time at Breck some dickhead yellow jacket followed us; so I ducked into the woods, took my skis off and just started hiking up. Eventually I was able to start traversing over and went back down and left. This is the way to do it. I ain't losing a $700 dollar pass.

" the plan next season is to build a booter in a out of bounds section under a lift"

Are you fucking kidding? Find a better spot, you jackass. The ADA doesn't protect those with severe mental disabilities from having their pass taken away.

unironically yes because you're violating their terms of service while using the resort's property and services. if you're resisting or refusing to just turn in your pass, that's the only way they can get you to stop.

how dope would it be to have it under the lift, people can yell do a flip and hopefully i'll be able to say "alright sure" and do it. it's out of bounds but its not like it's out of bounds because it's dangerous, it's out of bounds because it's literally a little valley thing and it's got a picnic table down there too. so stfu

This is pretty epic. He sounds serious, I'd take it as a legitimate threat

dude if you're at pico for some reason dm me and i'll go bc the woods out of bounds on both sides of the mountain are super super good. and yeah i'm gonna go to killi for park but i still want to go to pico a decent amount when it snows and stuff bc it's a great mountain

I've heard of people reporting their passes as lost after getting it pulled with varying success.

In my experience a pole plant an a wave gets you permission to nuke by.

OP what ever you do don’t try to Ollie over a slow sign and catch you one skis tip. Then faceplant In front of 3 yellow jackets. If I wasn’t with my coaches I woulda been outta there

what kind of slow signs do you have? mine are like 4-6 feet tall

One of the 4ish foot tall ones. It was just slightly over the crest of a roller

If you really want a booter in an Out of bounds section that's visible to everyone, try to organize an event around it. If you approach them with a plan and frame it as a marketing opportunity or whatever, they might even help you with it. If they decline, you just have to find a diffferent place for your booter.

that's a super good idea, but no way would it work at my mountain... might give it a try though

Might help to approach some potential sponsors first to give legitimacy to your plan. If you can get a ski shop and/or a couple brands on board for an event it will be harder for the resort to say no. You want to talk to the marketing/outreach person at your resort.

I had a local gas station chain sponsor an event one time and it worked great. We've also had a dairy donate chocolate milk for a park jam before so doesn't necessarily have to be ski related sponsors.

Plenty of shops in Killi would be down to support an event like that. Maybe even a restaurant. Best thing you can do is come up with a whole ass plan

The way to not get your pass pulled is to just genuinely apologize for whatever you did, however trivial it is.

I like skiing on day passes because at the end of the day I can start doing stupid shit and not feel bad if the pass gets clipped.

yeah for sure but it would be at pico and it'd be hard to get someone there to sign off on it, plus no one would come unless i dmed every kid at killi who's good bc theres one kid at pico who i've seen try a flip and he's not there very often, and every other person who'd show up from pico would be straight airing then dying most likely

Step one. Don't be a shitbag and give em a reason.

But also definitely the most hassle I've ever got way not even doing anything outrageous.

So. Just don't get caught I guess

Whenever I see this thread title I think it’s some dude that’s victim blaming women.

ive thought it like 7 times

Two features. one small one big.

So basically the first vigilante, ex ski patrol person is going to watch you building the jump and you'll get your pass taken away even before hitting the jump. Yes great idea, good way to waste a ticket.

One time my friend and I got stopped by an over enthusiastic patroller at Alpental, he didn’t think we should have been able to come down from out of the trees where did without poaching and we got into this big fucking debate about how high you can traverse from the lower chair, the guy was all bent out of shape because they were doing a bunch of control work in the BC, had nothing to do with what we were doing but anyway I had a pass so I was like de- escalating yeah whatever sorry let’s go but my buddy only had a day lift ticket and it was like 1 pm so he was mouthing off hard talking mad shit and all I could think was I was going to lose my pass over this. It didn’t come to that fortunately but after the fact I was like if that prick asked for my pass I think I would have just said no and left. Maybe called a buddy to come get me so my truck doesn’t get associated with me or something ?‍♂️

That's what I'm thinking short of defining it that way. They can't hold you against your will....or can they....

Personally I don't have time for a lecture. Granted I'm not gonna be breaking rules that matter, but if I did get in trouble for something minor, I'm not wasting my day fighting to get a pass back because there won't be an opportunity to take it.

But really op has a point. He said minor infractions. To me this means some garbage ass reason for yellow jackets to be dicks. Ski patrol is usually chill. While it's pretty easy to avoid trouble, eventually you'll find yourself in a situation where a yellow jacket doesn't agree... Now what to do? Personally I think the biggest risk is day passes cuz you'll lose your $60-200 worth of a pass. In that case, play dumb and be polite and apologetic. Otherwise with a pass, especially multi-resort passes, just zoom to the bottom straight to the parking lot. They can't physically detain you, in most circumstances, unless it's security, who may or may not have this privilege. Someone mentioned rfid- go straight to the car and avoid any additional lifts for traversing. If you have to, do a quick swap of your outfit and gear. While a backpack is kinda obvious, if it's an incognito black one, utilize it as storage space to swap your wardrobe.

If you're a rookie who doesn't park where you can ski to, then your fault. If you're being a dick and violating ski patrol rules that have potential to seriously injure or kill someone, then fuck you.... But if you get caught up in nonsense, rather than wasting your time, just peace out quickly.

Anyone here actually tried to book it and get caught? We need the deets otherwise it's just speculation if this would work.

And op, rather than just say no....dont say anything. That way if you do get caught, your last option is to say you didn't know they yelled at you cuz of tunes.
