Can't land a nine :(

Anyone got any tips for landin a 900 off a ramp, that i can only just land a tidy seven?
i seem just to not have enough time in the air , i keep landing 90 degrees off a nine
if theres any good or instructional vids of 900's, it'd bee kool to see them?

A 7 and a 9 arent that different. I learned my first 9 by overrotating a 7 (cool story hansel). Dont spot your landing when you come around on that second 360 just keep looking behind you. Do it on a jump you can spin a relatively smooth 720 on and just keep tucked up. You'll probably land a little off balance at first but after a few you'll have it nailed. One of the easiest transitions out there. Have fun!

Think of the second 360 as a 540, how big of a jump are you doing it on? just because you can 9 a 15ft table doesn't mean you should.

Its all in your hips. Once you come around to 7, dont open up to slow your rotation, and just swivel them hips the extra 90 that you need

You should think of 9 like 7. Come around for 7 and spot your landing. If you still have a lot of drop time in the air chill there for a bit and then twist your hips and lower body to 9. You can keep your head looking at the landing that way.

i progressed all the way from a 360 to 720 last year. But i did not even go from 720 from 900 this year. It's all good though cuz i got a sw 7. Just work on them grabs on other spins. Then try a 9 once you are better and i bet it will come naturally. That's my plan.

the size of the jump makes the biggest difference when you are trying bigger spins. if you are going for a nine then make sure you are hitting a jump of 30ish feet and over. It also helps if you learn how to grab and really just get a grip on how to conrol your spins well.

ya 9s need to be off at least a 50' kicker to look good. but its good to learn on smaller stuff so you dont hurt yourself.

amidst alot of the hate in here theres some solid advice, if you had some video of what you're doing it would be alot more helpful because there are several different things that can make rotations hard to get. with 9's confidence and spotting mixed with airtime are going to be your biggest keys without any footage to offer more help.

Ya...but it's irrelevant because he is trying to learn 9's...

Just because 360s look good doesn't mean I stopped progressing there.

dont beat yourself up over it dude.. youll eventually get it. its the same way with any new tricks you might be lucky enough to land it first time but if not, you just try it again.

its all about the take off, wrap up like a top then right before you pop, unlesh, throw your leading arm back towards your back and your trailing arm across your body and keep looking over the leading shoulder. your first few might be ugly, but thats how you learn.

^ that will send you cork, you never have to wind up like a top if your hitting an appropriate sized jump, which HH through cab 14's he doesn't wind up like a top the trailing arm winds up for comfort but if you pop and turn your shoulders you'll get he same thing done.

thanks for the advice y'all, il be trying it at tonights sesh
Do ye think grabbing mutes or true tails, might help me spin faster, because, i find my sevens are always way more chilled with one of those grabs?

I dont know what this kid is talking about, Ive never met him before!

j/k

But seriously, its all in the hips and the head rotation. Throw a 7, but dont open up when you come around 630.
