Can't Do 270's on=Noob?

It seems like everyone and their grandma is throwin 270's onto rails. If you can't 270 on, is it time to give up the game and move on...to snowblades?

your wrong if you cant 270 on its not that big of a deal, maybe not everyone wants to be a well known skier and just want to chill and ski.

just keep working at it. they can be tricky especially if you have never done them. I think switch 270 on is easier than straight 270 on for sure

Practice makes perfect. I remember the first time I tried a 270 on I ended up flying back and landing on my butt bone. Luckily, the box was short. Had I landed on the box, I prolly would have cried.

Jea I just learned them at the beginning of this year. It's all about popping straight up, and committing. Then it's just a matter of practicing.

dude...dont worry about it. It just starts to come after a while. It is definatley more important to be able to ski a big mountain that to do a 270 onto rail

i have an off topic question, i can slide both ways, 270 on, sw270 on, fs su and so on, but i cant spin off, what the fuck?

please dont snowblade...if u want to do a 270 on natural then first learn to slide the rail unnatural so then when u do the 270 u know u can grind that way at least.. or if u feel more comfortable trying to spin the other way then keep trying and dont give up.. once u'v made the rotation look to the end of the rail and u should get it after a bunch of tries!

Speaking for the european level you´re not a n00b if you can´t 270 on any kind of box or rail...

Like 98% of the people here (including me) can´t even clear a box straight.

its because to spin on you have to grip the snow and to spin off you have to grip the rail... you probably havnt quite learned hwo to grip the rail yet

i tried a few this weekend. i would spin fine and get on the rail fine, but i never made it to the end, just kinda slip off the side. wat am i doin wrong?

you probably drift a little so youre not coming on to the rail straight, and that momentum equates to you sliding of in the direction you drift

the whole point of skiing isn't to build a repatoir of tricks. the whole point is to have fun at something youre good at. even if it means you can's 270 on.

I´m speaking of the parks I usually ski in...

Like Dachstein Superpark or my "homemountain" called Stuhleck.

well anyone can 270 on a 12 inch wide box, but what does get tough at times is goin on an actual rail tahts more like 5 inches.

not all of us are trying to turn pro who cares what you can and cant do. I dislocated my shoulder trying a 270 on to a urban style down rail on friday. Not fun.

No way in hell can I 270 I cant even slide a straight rail (c-boxes dif) cuz I always slide off. I guess I am a noob. Even if I can do d-spin 7s.

being able to do a 270 on does not make you good

and not being able to do one does not make you bad

oh my god this is the funniest thing i have ever heard. i didnt know there were still people that existed that couldnt 270 on but i guess there are, and yes you should snow blade because you suck, i learned to 270 on when i was 6, wow you suck it isnt even a trrick its just something you do, haha, well not you of coarse

Rails really aren't that cool. IT's more something I do when the jumps suck. I like them but I've never really been all that into doing rails. Maybee I'll do more this season. 270s on are all about poping well though. You've gotta pop then spin otherwise you'll miss the rail.

alot of times i think about why i feel the need to do bigger tricks, and often times stupid stuff like 270s onto rails, because it will matter very little anywhere other than in the park. but i just think i like the adrenaline of learning something new, and the pride and feeling of accomplishment that comes with it. and i get that feeling with anything to do with skiing, not just rails.

it does seem like 270 on is the new 270 out though, so many kids can do it it's ridiculous. this season i learned to 270 onto boxes and rails already, and i still feel like im behind the curve in vt. holy shit.

no freestyle skiing is starting to get big and if u tell people this they might switch to a different sport... just encourage who cares atleast the skiing...

ya man people are crazy good at rails now. Rails are most definatly my weak point I can say. That doesn't really bother me though it's also the part of skiing I enjoy the least I'd say

wow, 6? really? you must be a pro or something. Everyone needs to start somewhere. It's definitely true that there are LOTS of legit skiiers, even jumpers, who can't consistently stomp a 270 on.

rails ar a phase......... can do em.... not like rails are something i want to work on.. id rather be hitting a jump then hitting a rail

I want to learn 270s on to something besides a flat box this year, and to do that I'm going to have to keep skiing, not snowblading.

i take that back acutaly.. i have met kids who can do shit like D-Spins and cork spins, but cant do rails that well.

All i have done so far this year is practice 270 on and switchups

I have tried 270 on to every rail I have hit this year.

It helps

Once you fall a couple times in your first try 270's ever, you dont fall anymore, just slide of.

this dude is right, i enjoy learning new tricks and stuff but thats really not what its all about to me. Its just having fun, flowing, and doing whatever feels natural. It seems a lot of people in the FS community are just focused on wanting to be the best which is cool. But for some of us we just enjoy kickin it.

Boxes seem like the way to go. I definately need to get with the 270 game sometime soon or I will be left in the dust with the Joeys and Gapers throwin spreads to flat/much thanks for the advice
