Can't burn CDs, help

So I go to burn a few cds tonight using windows media player and one all of the files are converted it just closes the disc off and then it's a wasted disc. Also my cd burner makes weird noises when I try to burn any type of cd. any ideas on what is wrong?

heh im not really a computer expert or anythin but everytime ive tried burining cds with windows media player it hasnt worked, so if you have i-tunes u might wanna try it that way....?

ya I don't have I-Tunes, is there any other free programs that might do the trick?
