Canon T3i

or just take care of your camera and get a weather cover for 100 bucks. I shoot 80% in the backcountry and have had no issues.

Awesome! I got my 7D paid for through work so it wasn't a big deal to me. Just love having a camera.

im amazed there hasnt been more talk about the crop zoom feature. its the one cool thing this camera has.

"You can also reach distant subjects using new Movie Digital Zoom function, which crops the centre of the sensor from 3x to 10x while still maintaining Full HD quality – great for capturing wildlife on a safari holiday."

its because everybody is highly skeptical of digital zoom, for obvious reasons. However, considering the large sensor size, and the fact that moire/artifacts are the result of too much downsampling, people are still holding their breath. It could either be great, or just another soccermom feature.

didnt panasonic do this on the gh2 as well? i havent really seen any reviews of it since that camera came out.

canon is fucking killing it as far as the industry goes. tell Nikon to get their shit together in the DSLR video world

Canon is doing well, nikon is doing decent.

They both have a lot of work before they are to "killing it" level.

i would say four cameras capable of 1080p compared to none from nikon is close to killing it.
but your right, they could be doing much better

oh my gawd I have been jizzing all over for that camera. as soon as I finish paying my 7D and I mac, Im saving up for the af 100

Both Canon and Nikon HDSLRs are lacking a bunch of simple features that are necessary to be seriously used for video production, I'm sure lots of people can fill you in on that better than I can.

Yea, Nikon is a pretty big step behind Canon in the HDSLR game, but both of them leave a WHOLE lot to be desired for people that are serious about video. Resolution is just part of the picture.

I hope the t2i price will drop soon. Been saving up for one but still don't want to drop all my money on it because I'm still going to need a memory card and all that

Not really. Resolution alone does not make a camera good in any way, shape, or form. That's like saying a big canvas automatically makes the painting better.

DSLRs are great because they are CHEAP for what you are getting. Price:function ratio aside, they aren't all that great.
