So i have a Canon T2i and i have been taking alot of long exposure pictures of the stars. i keep hearing about infinity focus but cant find anything on it.. Help with this? having trouble getting my pics in focus.

or oyu could just not be a complete D bag and tell me how to do it. is it a setting on all lenses or only specific ones?

Since the kit lens is shitty (no offense), Im 99% sure you dont have a REAL focus ring, just the rotating thing at the front of the lens. On a lens with a nice focus ring, it will look similar to the zoom ring and has a little glass display in front of it with numbers in it. Not 100% what they mean but I know it has to do with how close to subject in focus is to the lens. At the very end of this display is infitity focus.

Yeah a nicer lens makes this camera mind blowing. If you're planning on filming skiing, I would recommend the Sigma 17-50 F/2.8 or the Canon 17-40 F/4. I have the Canon, and honestly wish i had gotten the sigma, its a little cheaper, and the aperture goes a bit wider, which would be really nice right now.
