Canon lenses

mmkay so im thinking about getting a canon 20D, i am a noob at photography but i'd rather spend money on a good camera then a mediocre and have to spend more later. and plus its only 550$.

MY question is:

will the lenses off a canon AE1 fit this camera?

it says this... it takes all old and new lenses for the EOS film/digital camera, EF or EF-S

will the 35 mm lenses be compatible?

that sounds fucking sick. I have a 20d it is a sweet camera...but i paid $1650 for mine a few years ago.....

This is the exact situation that happened to me except i have the 40D and my AE1 lenses did not fit the camera. i emailed canon to see if there was a solution to this problem. i have a few hundred dollars worth of my old lenses and they have not responded. i emailed them maybe 2 months ago... if you email them get back at me with their response

SO basically the 10D i know only takes EF lenses.. so when the EOS series started they started making EF lenses.. but the 20D is newer so it might take the EF-S's anyways theres a guy that has one with a lense for 650 in my area im stokkkked.

i really doubt a 20D will take lenses from an AE1. a. because that's a pretty old camera. b. because the instructions say EOS...which basically means any canon 35mm Rebel or Elan

The lens will work but u will not have any of the auto features, such as focus or apature adjust. If you are cool with doing this manually then rock it. If you're trying to go cheap get a 50mm F1.8II. Lens is 150 Cad, and way chepaer in the states. Also can be bought used on many photo forms for 50-60USD. It's an awsome prime lens and is scary good for the price.

i've been thinking about getting that lens...but i can't decide if i would rather get the Canon EF-S 17-85 4-5.6 IS USM, since the IS would be really helpful when i shoot indoor concerts (which is a lot). oi

does anyone have the canon 50mm F1.4.....im thinking about getting it for my rebel, and its only like 200, can anyone offer an opinion?

ive heard its worth the money though...and it has a great bokeh effect, its it realistic for any ski shooting...i know ill use it for others things but can it be used for shotting the ski scene

cool, thanks. I really want the the USM is cool, but the IS I really wanted. I think I'm going to finally buy it. I decided I wanted it awhile ago, but then I was looking at other stuff and now I'm back to this. sometime after this I'll either get a wide angle, a 50mm 1.8, or something to fill the gap between the 18-55 and 70-300.

yeah i already have a telephoto, so im thinking about a telephoto with that range as well, have you seen anything?

you can find those on craigslist for 200 in canada so you could probably pick one up in america for 150 ish im probably gonna get one eventually

ooh, wide angle. to 18mm, but I'm not sure what they is on a cropped sensor rebel so it's probably more like 20 or 30mm. I haven't looked too much for a wide angle yet.

yah i checked that place as well, but i go to forums on Flickr which gives me a lot of individual reviews of many photographers, not just one persons review or so.

sweet.

looking at the review for the lens I want/ just ordered they recommend the 70-200 f/4 L over it unless I really want the IS/ longer reach. but it works out because I want the IS and the longer reach. I figure next I'll probably buy a general, nice, walk around lens that's faster and maybe has IS.

ok i got my body for my 20D for 500 :p

IN MINd lol caps

i have for lenses:

the 50mm 1.8

70-300 IS telephoto

good choices?

should i get that 18-55 too?

why? and btw im only 14 im a broke ass motherfucker well kind of actually no im not but i don't wanna blow $1500 on lenses..

it'd be stupid for someone to only buy canon L lenses if they're not photographing professionally (i.e. being paid). that's so pretentious hahaha

i bought the sigma 70-300 4-5.6 for about 300 in the summer as an intermediate amateur photographer and i love it because i can use it for a lot of things, a very big step up from my kit lens. Also has a great macro feature which you can see the results in the photos in my signature. Just my personal opinion.
