if he's got the money, he can do whatever the fuck he wants to do, thats why the country he lives in is considered free...this isnt fucking red china you goddamn moron...now go crawl back into bed with your mom to continue the despicable act that is incest.

A GL2 is just a high quality miniDV camera, right? Well, on most miniDV cams, you can hook the camera up to your computer using Firewire (I reccomend this, it's very fast), USB 2.0 (next best option), or regular USB (don't do this, it isn't even worth it). If you don't have a Firewire card, I suggest buying one for your computer, for it will make your life infinitely easier and faster.

just a gl2 they shoot a with it in a lot of professional ski filsms and i dont think something that cost 2300 is 'just a gl2'

chirst, your jsut jealous he can afford it, and you apparently barely can...tought shit, let me reiterate that he can do whatever he wants to do, its a free country.

Thanks tweak, its just like anything else we bought it and have to learn how to use it, its just different from my last camera, I got the firewire card right after we bought it, but I still have to get the right software, I was just wondering cuz my other camera is a Sony DV and I could change it from tape to digital on the camera itself. Thats what I was lookin to do. I know how to record with it and use alot of the effects and all the settings but this manual is huge its like a novel and Dspin I hardly doubt you'd be able to figure anything out judging by your vocabulary since 'fuck' isn't the most common word used.

heres the low downn:

the gl2 comes with what is called a IEEE 1394 cable which has a side that is bigger and is the six pin side. this plugs into the IEEE 1394 port on your computer. many newer computers have this which are new in the past year and macs have had these for a quite a few years on them as standard. the other end is a the four pin side. this plugs into the corresponding port on the camera. when you want to record the footage off of your camera onto your computer you are going to turn the camera to the play setting that you use when you watch your video you have recorded on the tape. next if you have windows the new hardware tag pops up on the computer and will automatically load the drivers for the camera. next you will need some sort of software to capture the video onto your computer. if you dont have any already you can use windows movie maker which is free to download or you can download Avid Free DV which is free from avid.com and is a great program to learn the basics of editing. once you open your software you are going to find where the capture settings are. here you will choose where you want to save the video you digitize, and you will select what type of camera you are using so you can control the play functions on the camera through the computer. then just play the tape to where you want to start recording and press the capture button. press stop when your done and save the file you digitized if asked and start editing. when you want to put a clip on the internet you will need to export the clip and encode it using windows media encoder or quicktime pro to make it small enough to play on the internet. and remember that for ever hour you capture onto your computer it takes up approx. 13 gigabytes.

make sure you are up to date with windows xp online updates otherwise you might try reinstalling your IEEE 1394 drivers on the computer or the card itself

You should have just got a plug 'n play card, then you don't have to deal with that shit. Happy recordings with the GL-2, I love mine.

I dont know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
