Canon gl2 questions

I have a canon gl2. The editing program that I use is adobe premiere pro. I am not quite satisfied with the way the footage turns out. I am wondering if anyone has any tips. Is my computers video card possibly to blame? I tried cleaning the video head. Any help would great.
 
clean your heads. but settins I use are 

Color Gain- Up 5,

Color Phase- 2 towards red

Sharpness- Down  3

Setup Level-Down 3

I also try and keep my shutter speed below 360, and my lense wide open. close to 1.6 as possible. 

With CP off i sett white ballence then turn CP on. Use the LCD screen to get focus set (normaly kept on Auto) Then film with the view finder.

 
that sounds good, except turn the color down to -3 or so. Too much saturation = loss of detail.

Are you capturing with a firewire?

Is your computer really shitty?

Color correct your shots. Always color correct your shots. Use a tripod.

Its pretty simple to get....I can't think of any other reason why it could look bad...
 
well first of all you have to use firewire to import into adobe, always film on manual, make sure that you are not overexposed and you are using white balance. I have never figured out the point of AE and what not. But use the zebra effect. that way you can see overexposure
 
I do use firewire. My computer isnt that shitty. It is a dell notebook that is only a couple years old. Does the fact that I am shooting in 16:9 affect things. I think I heard somewhere that the gl2 shoots a poor widescreen shot.
 
Maybe your Adobe import settings are messed up. It could be that the camera is giving perfect images to the computer but when the computer encodes it to AVI the settings are for low quality.
