Canon EOS Rebel T1i ...?

I have been thinking about getting a dslr for a while and now that there are a few with HD video capabilities I have been getting more and more into the idea of spending some cash on one. The T1i has caught my eye after looking around online and now I am just getting some more opinions before making my choice and setting money aside.

If you have any suggestions, I have some specs I want the camera to meet...

12+ mp

HD video

Continuous shooting with about 4fps (seems to be the speed for this price range)

$700ish or less for camera and the typical 18-55mm lens kit.

I also plan on buying a 10-20mm wide angle lens (sigma if I get the T1i, to save money and still get a good lens) and probably a 55-250mm lens later on.

If your considering the T1i I would save up a tiny bit more and get the T2i if your going to be doing any sort of filming. The T1i doesnt cut it when you can get the T2i.

Well the T1i is really the high end of my budget... And I don't plan on filming much with it, just a few clips here and there to try it out, so the 1080p @ 20 fps or 720p @ 30 fps seems like fine quality. This is a way of saving money to me, by buying a higher end dslr with HD video instead of a mediocre HD camcorder and a cheaper 12mp dslr.

never ever use 20 p. Just get the t2i. I love mine, seriously, no regrets. Its only a hundred bucks more

very interesting. maybe i will be looking for deals on the T2i then. T2i just seems like more than i need...

i got a t1i and while it does not have the manual controls it still takes damn good video and you can control the aperture with the "lens twist" trick. ill sell you mine which is in great condition
