So i am looking into purchasing a used canon eos a2, to use for skiing and general photography use. have any of you used this camera? and if so what did you like about it? what didn't you like about it? what would you recommend for lenses? i want to shot from all ranges and angles. also what would camera would you recommend from another company?

ahhhh...

how much is the film slr, cause any high end film slr ive seen hasnt been that cheap

How are you planning on paying for film/developing costs? If you are planning on shooting a lot this is something to think about as there aren't that many places that develop high quality shots affordably. If you have somewhere to develop/be supplied with film like school or a local camera shop you hang out at then it isn't as much of an issue. I've seen plenty of DSLR's on ebay and craigslist lately going for around $400 that are in good shape.

The Eos A2 is out of production, so used you can get a body and two lenses for around 150, so yes definatily cheaper than ditigal, plus i like using film, ive used alot of ditigal slr's and i perfered film.

but the thread wasnt about how much money i have, although thats all you rich ns fuckers ever talk about, is money. if you got the money buy this its more expensive, so its better. fuck that.

what i wanted to know was what people though of the camera if they used it, or if they had any recommendations for a similar product. digital not being similar.

You could always find a Canon EOS Rebel, or one of the variants of Rebel. I have a Rebel 2000, and I've had it about 6 years now, still works as well as it did the day I bought it. There have been some Rebel's for sale on here for around the same price. They are manual or auto, and have different shooting modes/presets, and allow either up to 5 or 7 focus points, i can't quite remember.

I have an A2 and have been shooting with it for the past couple of seasons. The thing is SICK for its cost. The body holds up well, sharp autofocus, and 5fps is sick for sequences. I have been using a standard zoom and a 50mm for it and have been very pleased with everything.

I really have no complaints, I am using my parents that they bought new, and it is holding up great. I say go for it, you really can't go wrong, you can switch between 1,3, and 5fps, yeah, sick cam!!

unless you don't have to pay for development materials, i don't really see how film is cheaper (although i prefer the quality to digital)....

i have a friend with a 35 mm canon rebel and it's kind of a piece.

good luck with the search

Its a good camera. I shot everything with mine until i got my 5d last december. Only thing to watch out for is the main dial - them seem to stop working eventually. cost about $100 to get mine replaced (pretty much as much as the camera is worth) 5fps works good for sequences - have a few on my profile if you look way way back

well its starting to sound likes its a solid camera afterall. when it comes to lenses do you guys stick with canon lenses or do some of the other brands fit and work well with this camera.
