Yeah man it's a nice camera, two of my friends have it. Personally I went with the Nikon N80 instead for about the same price. I almost wish I had gotten the canon though because it shoots 4 fpm vs 2.5. Also the canon has the retina thing where it focuses where you are looking. So yeah it's sweet, get it.

I'm looking at that same camera, but I'm thinking about getting a better lens than the 28-90mm. Also the battery pack with vert grip seems like it is a must. But I'm most likely going to Montana State next year to study photography so I think that it should get the job done. Plus the multiple exposure with 9 per frame sounds real good.

also worth having a look at the canon eos 5(american version is called the A2e). they dont make it any more, but it costs slightly less than the one you're looking at if you can find it second hand(not too difficult i think). it has a 5fps motordrive. although lacks a few of the features of slightly newer cameras.

i have the elan 7 and its awsome. i hear the eos 5 has some problms, like the it falls apart and some of the controls die on it. if i were u i would just go with the elan 7 or 7e. if u just want the body u can find the elan 7 body for eather like 230 or 270.i also hear that for sports photography the eye control dosent work very well.

there is only one real problem with the eos 5 and thats one ocntrol dial that can break if you're not careful. it a good camera thats is still used by a lot of people and i wouldnt dismiss it straight away. especially if you're wanting a camera you can ski with and not worry about too much.

I just got my elan 7e two days ago and its great. But don't get the kit that they offer, I bought a tamron wideangle 28-80 lens for $60 and a Kodak telephoto 80-210mm lens for $70 at B&H. Order from there, they're the cheapest. But its a great camera and I'm just waiting for the battery pack/verticle grip to come in.

i have the A2 (5) and its pretty sick. command dial can get stuck and be a bitch but if you are easy on it you shouuldnt have a problem. I have the vg10 side grip too and it makes the camera much more solid and easy to hold. i have the 28-105 II USM and its a sick lens. check out my pics on profile

Pretty much... buy any eos from the last decade and the metering will be exceptional. THe features may not all be there on the older cameras, but just spend the money you save on a better lens. I wish I had upgraded my 28-90 to at least a USM.

I'm getting Canon's new Eos Elan 7N. It is out in April. It will replace the 7e and 7ne. Same exact camera, but it adopted things like the cicuitory metering system off of the 10D, so the focusing speed is much quicker. The ETTL has been improved. Bunch of other stuff, can't remember it all but the list is 350 for the 7N. Cheaper than the previous 7. What the hell you photography nut, you haven't even heard about the New models? Nikon can crawl in a hole and die now, because these new models are gonna make others make second choices.
