Basically Canon merged the 7d and 5d2, a very different route than Nikon took with the D800, IE Speed VS IQ. I have heard that the ship date might be as late as October though, so not sure if this is what Canon is releasing this month. I haven't seen anything in terms of video specs but I'd expect that it will be similar to the 1dX in terms of features.

we already know the three lenses, but i want to know video specs. Kind of excited for a fast shooting/decent autofocus system for that price though. Hopefully it has killer video and i'll pick one up!

and just by the way, those are CR1 specs, meaning its not really confirmed. I'll wait for a cr2/3 to really commit to something

if this is all true it sounds like they are going to do what i heard they were trying to avoid, releasing a camera that would compete with, and detract a large number of buyers away from the 1D cameras. hell with those specs why pay double that for a 1D?

that kinda makes sense to me, 6.9 frames a second seems like a big jump from 3. but i defiantly wouldn't put it past them.

Well, looks like the wait goes on for a camera upgrade... Oh well I have no complaints with my T2i right now

If I were anyone looking to buy a DSLR for video I'd just wait for the 4K camera...Sure you might spend more than $650 but it'll be worth it.

Rarely used it, so I sold it to a friend. I personally preffered the look/versatility (low light, lightweight, better ergonomics IMO, etc.) I got from my T2i.

I expect it to be similar to the 1DX plans. I'm looking forward to picking up the 4K DSLR when they release it. Would be cool to see that in the new 5D though.

if you don't mind my asking, why are you already looking to replace the 5d mk II? seems like you've hardly even had it long enough to grow into it

im not! I love my 5d and will probably keep it for a whileee. I meant commit to specs being the real deal, but i used poor wording. Fail :P

New shiny toy syndrome. All the younglings are like that...ooh thats new...ooh thats new...i'll use something for 3 days, sell it upgrade...repeat.

My brother is that way with guns. I used to be with Skis until I realized the value in holding onto them. I'm the same now with lenses. I only sell them if I have no use for them after I thought I would. Otherwise I'll generally hold onto them as a rental at some point will likely require it.

lol don't be so quick to judge mr.down-payment-on-scarlet-on-release-day :)

oh haha, maybe i meant a second body, not too sure what i was trying to say. I'm definitely a fan of my 5d, minus the fact that it lacks 60p.

I always thought there would be a Firmware upgrade for that, I was surprised there never was. It would've been the choice camera had they done that.

And that wasn't directed at you specifically, there are several members on here that will buy and sell stuff faster then you can send in the rebates and warranty. The reason I ordered it so fast is because they're just getting to orders from November 4th the past couple days. Had I waited much more than I did, I would've been looking at a 3-5 month wait. Instead I was pretty high on the list.

Everyone goest through that phase at some point, its a right of passage. I just went through mine. It was kinda weird, I finally picked up a good tripod, something I've wanted for a long time, and I realized, I have everything I need. Do I really need a 5d2, what I was planning on purchasing in June, no. Do I really need a full set of Canon L primes, no, it would be nice, but that won't make me a better photographer.

I'm about to enter a university program, the two I've applied to both have incredible stocks of rental gear at no cost to students, endless shelves of medium format cameras (film and digital), 4x5's, studio strobes, great canon/nikon digital (no 1d's but a few full frames bodies and a great selection of lenses), and the list goes on and on. Why drop $2000 on a body that will be 'out-dated' in a years time.

Nice dude! Good luck with that. Where are you going to school? My schools Video locker was awesome but they limited certain students to what they could rent. So I finally picked up my own gear and ended up leaving school and working.

Hopefully they don't limit you to what you can rent. I'm sure it's different everywhere.

I've applied to Ryerson (Toronto) and Concordia (Montreal). Only two industry recognized photography BFA's in the country, have no interest in college. I'm crossing my fingers I'll get in, i've met with prof's at Concordia, and they loved a lot of my work. Their two very different programs though. I've talked to a bunch of students and none of them mentioned restrictions, either way I'll still be stoked to finally be able to afford to shoot medium/large format.

Those are both terrific schools for photography. If I had ended up not going into film, I think Ryerson would have been my school of choice for photo. Going to a school with a good equipment locker/ rental policy is far more important than most people think

100%! There is no 1 light, 1 camera, 1 medium solution. Every shot requires a different approach. Having access to all the equipment/facilities lets you to try different cameras and approaches. I'm torn between the two schools, hopefully the acceptances I get won't make the decision for me. Their both amazing, facilities are top notch, brand new buildings...
