Canon 550d/t2i vs. Nikon d3200

Hi,

I plan on getting a new camera for photography and filming and i was wondering which camera would better suit me.

I currently take pictures on my moms old Canon XTI with the kit 18-55 lens.

I plan to takes photos of pretty much everything (landscape,macro, skiing, longboarding, etc,.) and I would like to take videos of skiing, longboarding and other things. I currently film on a GoPro HD Hero and that isnt cutting it for all around filming.

I also do not have the budget for a lot of lenses and I would like to just stick with the 18-55 kit just for getting used to the camera.

Buy a T2i but with a different lens then your mom's so you can just borrow/steal her 18-55mm

If you want to give photography a go, get a nifty fifty. (50mm f1.8 / dirt cheap and stellar optical performance)

Thanks!! I didn't even realize that the lenses would be interchangeable between the two cameras. Plus she has a 70-300mm zoom lens if ever need that!
