Its official now:

The Announcement: http://www.dpreview.com/previews/canoneos50d/
The Hands-On Review: http://www.dpreview.com/previews/canoneos50d/

Looks like some new sensor technology's gonna squeeze a bit more megapixels in there, probably for marketing. Apparently, that's not going to increase too much noise according to Canon, (I haven't had time to read the review yet.) so we'll see.

Some new features include:

DIGIC 4 processor
15 MP
Peripheral Illumination Correction (fix vignetting in-cam)
6.3 FPS >60 JPEG Large/Fine
new DIGIC 4 interface

Nikon also just announced the D90 as well for all you Nikon lovers,

Heres the review for that: http://www.dpreview.com/previews/nikond90/

Sorry I can't sum that up I haven't read it yet but you guys can do that for me

Whats the price looking at? jw. I just got a 40d and am wondering if i fucked up.

i just attended a conference on this....well i was working while the guy was speaking about it. he said in the next few years mega pixels will go up because thats what the market wants, but the wave of the future is megapixels will be going down to 8 but it can flatten out the colors in a room so it will pick up colors the eye doesnt see, also nearing a 3d effect. they will be changing the processors and stuff they also have a 360 degree lens in the works, that through a computer you can flatten out the image. he was a professor at brown, i didnt understand most of the stuff he was talking about.

EXACTLY, WTF Canon.

Cut the EF-S crap, let's start seeing some real cameras.

Although I wouldn't mind having a 50D for a backup camera, it does have some impressive specs.

pretty much...and on the canon side there is nothing 5fps+ so d700 full frame 8fps with batterygrip here i come........maybe....in my dreams....hopefully

my hope is that by the time i have enough money to spend on a new camera the industry will provide...

oh man u'll never get a full frame without payin for it. even an on old 5d (now old 5d) is hard to find in a good deal. good luck on ur quest.

giver a few months people might start gettin crazy tryin to get rid of there old 5d's to pick up the mkII

so stoked... im in the market for a 40d and now the prices will start to fall... thank god for exponential technology..
