Canon 20D Question

Alright just some background info on me. I'm pretty much a beginner in digital photography. I took a class last year in high that was half a year 35mm and then the next half was digital. I used a Canon Rebel 2000 35mm and some XT's and D40's on the digital part. I like the feel of Canons a lot better. I know some stuff about aperture and f stop but not a whole lot.

Now last summer I really wanted to get into photography and started looking at a bunch of Canons everything from the XT to the 50D. I got really hooked on some 20D's since they shoot a fairly decent fps. I don't really care a whole bunch about megapixels. Last summer I use to see some 20D's withe a 18-55mm lens kit and other stuff go for around $700 on Ebay. Well I kind of faded out of looking for cameras until now. So recently I would a used 20D locally for $400 with a 18-55m lens. The guy says everything works and the body is in perfect condition. Now I know I would want to upgrade lenses fairly quickly. But would this be a good deal for me? I would like to minor in photography in college in the next few years so would I need to upgrade to something better then? I know the 20D's are fairly old but I've heard a lot of good reviews on them so I just thought I'd get some feedack.

my mom just upgraded to a 50d so i got her 20

its a very nice camera and shoots great pictures if you can use it right

Is it really worth it to get a 30D? I know I saw a used 30D body on B and H for like $530 or something.

If you're on a budget, just skip the kit lens and get a 50mm 1.8. It's a way better lens and will make you think about your shots a little more.

Ya I didn't really plan on using the 18-55 at all so I would most likely sell it and pick up that 50 1.8 sense there is a bunch of good reviews on it. So considering I sell the 18-55 lens and pick up a 50 1.8 would that be a good deal for $400?

Try to find one that is just a body, or use the 18-55 as a paperweight. There's probably fifteen of those laying around the used camera store here because nobody wants them.

Alright well after looking around it seems like a 30D would be a good choice also. How much should I be looking to spend on a used/refurbished 30D body? Now I"m thinking I jumped back into this way to fast haha Should I just save up and buy a 40D? Thanks again for all the info given.

I have a 20d and a 5dmkii, i would say go for a 30d, it will be a lot better however, if you can find a 20d that is pretty cheap, 300> jump on it!get yourself a better lens then the 18-55, looking into the 17-85mm.
