I'm a canoe instructor in the summer here in ottawa! I have done some serious 4 week trips up in northen quebec and ontario.

But, I live for Whitewater Open Boating! I paddle a specialed canoe that's about 9ft long, and has air bags in it so i can roll it back up if it tips... I do all the local rivers around here....and I'am staring to get into Rodeo stuff....which is much harder in a open boat tham a kayak...

ya...

nope, sorry bud, its all going to be in manitoba on the woverine, seal, and caribou rivers. it should be some good fun, because there is nobody out there!

I have done a bit of rodeo canoing. Boy is it hard. You better have a short boat. I like it on kyaks better though, more stable and more control. But for straight rapids canoes are better IMO.

I know I have a Dagger Phantom (pretty short) it a steep creeking/playboat

I might get into C1 for rodeo. (if you who don't know what a c1 is it's paddling a kayak but with a canoe paddle, and the seat is different we sorta kneel instead of sitting on our bum)

That way i can do cartwheels and stuff.....

i'm lookin to do a week long canoe trip at my cottage near ottawa this summer

Awh I just came across this thread and it turned my night around. A while ago I bought my first kayak....it a 2001 EZ wavesport. It's a great boat...and I think it's fun there's threads from the same year it was produced on this website. It's so interesting how kayaking has developed in a completely different way than skiing and mountain biking. A good boat from twenty years ago is still a good boat, while a mountain bike from even just ten years ago is often not really up to par with today's standards for a functional bike. Thanks for cheering me up!
