I was just wondering what people though is a better camera for both photos and HD video. Or any other DSLR in the same price range that shoot HD

I own the Nikon d5000, its a great camera for general photography, looking to get a wideangle lens for it, I take some skiing shots with it, but if your planning to shoot motion and sports look towards the d300 or d3 (really expensive) But the d5000 is a great camera for the money.

heres a couple shots I took this past winter with the d5000, prob click em to get better quality

I wouldnt even consider the T1i when the T2i is out...Both have similar iso ranges, no in camera autofocus, and are crop sensor cameras
The T1i and D5000 also have similar video:D5000 has 720 24fpsT1i has 720 30fps, the 1080 has 20fps which is shitthey both are a great beginner cam and the video is an awesome thing to use on the sideas far as the body, I like the Nikon so much more, which is why I ended up getting the D5000, if you are interested in filming at all, the swivel screen sounds gay, but makes it so much easier to followcam (if you dont have a glidecam), and hold the cam at other angles.Video stabilization is a must. As soon as I get the cash I am getting a glidecam. The video is always shaky unless the camera is completely still, sometimes the footage is even warpedheres an example of a quick edit shot with the D5000 kit lens with no stabelization or post production color enhancement:Pat Dowling Loon Mt from Ian Avery-Leaf on Vimeo.

also, the kit lens is a piece of shit, I also have the 55-200 vr which not the sharpest or nicest lens, but the combination of the kit and 55-200 is showing me what lengths I usually shoot at and some that I dont, so I can build a quality kit in the future. After a couple beginner lenses, don't skimp on future glass, you get what you pay for.

If you plan on shooting any video at all, go Canon. Nothing against Nikon in general, but there is no comparison in the video.
