Cannabis companies sponsoring skiers

Slow day at level 1?

I think in years to come we'll see more and more small scale weed sponsorships happening with non-competing riders who have a big local (in state) followings but aren't quite at the level where they're in the market for (or are just uninterested in) getting big corporate sponsors now or in the near future. Part of the problem too is that being sponsored by a cannabis company (that sells actual cannabis)

Most likely, cannabis related sponsorships (CBD aside) won't be widespread among high level pros until it's federally legalized in the US. However, I don't think it's impossible- if Tanner was able to keep his top sponsors (Red Bull, Oakley, etc.) despite all of his public cannabis use in the mid-2000s, I'm pretty sure that if there was legal weed in certain states at the time he would have been able to maintain those sponsorships and pick up a cannabis sponsor in a legal state. That's an extremely unique hypothetical though...

When it is federally legalized, we'll probably see a boom in sponsorships across action sports like we are seeing now with CBD (hence, since it was just made federally legal). If weed's federally legal and you the promote a cannabis brand and/or have a reputation of being a cannabis user, that will no longer be nearly as big of an issue for most other domestic companies looking to sponsor you. Additionally, with less stigma attached, federal legalization will also encourage accessory brands (i.e. Raw, that can currently legally sponsor athletes worldwide), to get more involved in promoting their products in action sports.

Down the line, it could be like how it currently is with energy drink sponsors, some athletes will get sponsored by and rep weed companies once its more normalized, even if they don't really smoke. Still, problems will continue to arise with international competitive organizations and the olympics so even then I don't think you'll be seeing many serious comp jocks getting sponsored.

Side note- as has been alluded to earlier in this thread, even though weed is federally legal in Canada now I don't expect there to be many/any weed sponsorships there unless the government-run structure of the cannabis industry changes.

I talked about this before with my friends, about how they see the future of cannabis and skiing. The industry is already massive, but will it become as big a thing as all our favourite energy drinks? Will we see a large RAW logo plastered alongside a Monster logo?

I've been noticing quite a bit of lesser known skiers promoting certain weed-related companies, getting sponsored by them and such. But it's only been the smaller skiers, which is sort of surprising to me. I'm awaiting the day one of the big guys like Tanner Hall getting a sponsor from some company that makes CBD oils and other shit.

What also struck my mind is the fact that our crowd of skiers are less exposed to these companies. Sure, maybe they'd look at snowboarders and say well, shit, these guys will be great candidates, but skiers? We're more in the shadow. Especially now, where we see more and more "comp jocks" than "park rats" appear in the sort of mainstream ski world, I'm sure it would be off-putting for some of these companies to find a way to bloom around skiing.

Anyways, I'd like to know other people's thoughts on this.

Your question is very interesting, and I think it's possible in the future, but it's not possible at the moment. The current generation considers it wrong, dangerous and equated with strong drugs... Unfortunately, they don't understand that marijuana, cannabis, and some types weed have many benefits. Here is a confirmation of my words weedsmart.net On that site, you can find information from specialists and even order many types of marijuana and weed. I can share a story from my life. I had a grandfather who was the best man, who made my childhood the best on earth, but he had a disease, chronic pain and he smoked marijuana, it helped him forget about the pain and relaxed. Unfortunately, he was dead a year ago because of illness, it's hard for me without him and since that time I have anxiety, I don't sleep well, but marijuana helps me and it's safe. I gope it will be helpful....
