just watched candide camera 2 again, what will the beast have in store for us this winter? he lays awfully low nowadays.....can he keep up??

would b nice to hear or see more from him nowadays but he's slowly fading into the snowgun mist... despite his legend and skill i feel his winters are numbered as are all, but i still highly anticipate his new work this year!

hes 27john jackson is 26
sage is 27jeremy jones jibber is 34jeremy jones big mt. is 35ian mcIntosh is 29tanner hall is 27travis rice is 28
jp walker did his whole part switch last year at 33
candide shouldn't even be close to being done

candide is the essence of freeskiing in my opinion.

from making the sickest edits/movie segments ever, to winning x games slope, to absolutely destroying any backcountry line, to throwing some of the most stylish tricks in the pipe... i'm pretty confident that he's the best all around skier, ever.

almost all u mentioned is still highly in the spotlight, why isnt candide filming with someone now? or something, anything?

lays so low... i mean winning the freeride world tour is nothing right?

get your head out the sand.

and Also try find PULL UP its the best Candide movie by far.

came free with a skier magazine i got back in like 06/07

I'm sure the FWT Champion is nowhere near fading. I don't even undertsnad the reasoning behind that comment.

he needs to get quicksilver to give him a huge movie budget like t rice, so we can finally get a ski movie that compares to TITA

Candide "laying low", "disappearing into the mist"?? Are you people on crack? This last year or so Candide has been killing it harder than anyone in the history of freeskiing ever has.

Candide Kamera 1?

Candide Kamera 2?

Red Bull Linecatcher?

Freeride World Tour title IN HIS ROOKIE YEAR?

Candide is most certainly not "done". If he doesn't win the Skier of the Year in Freeskier and Powder something is seriously wrong with the freeskiing community.

Add to that list winning x-games pipe back in the day, and having one of the most creative invitational events including the infamous big bertha step down, which might've gone a little overboard at 144ft. Probably one of the main reasons he doesn't slay man made stuff in the spotlight as much is because he broke his back that year.

and in case anyone was still in doubt, his ridiculous recovery at 4:20 is further proof (as if we needed it) that Candide is not human.

this thread is straight retarded. just because he doesnt double 10on city big airs doesnt mean he s done.

he won the free ride world tour last year and shot two of the best edits that went out.

candide is an incredibly talented skier. he is skiing harder than ever, with a cleaner style than most big mountain riders.

he fucking cork 7 true tail cliffs during competitions. what more do you want ?

and he doesnt film with major prod because actually he never filmed with major prods. he had some small parts but he has always done his own things.

Ok, I know we're all jumping on the hate train here with the guy who created this thread. Yes, it seems idiotic to ask that question...but..

The reason it is so easy sometimes to forget about all the Candide has done is because he's been in the game for SO LONG. He's been a pro ever since he was 13, doing moguls for France. At 16 he did a D-spin 7 over Chad's Gap and that basically made me legit over here in the US.

No, he's not putting out edits every couple of weeks, or has a videoblog or anything like that...which I actually find refreshing. I mean, really when you get down to it, a videoblog is kinda narcissistic. I love that fact that Candide is humble. That he avoids the spotlight whenever he can. That he doesn't get a lot of press unless he's killing the FTW tour or releasing another amazing edit. I mean, someone who doesn't want a camera in their face at all times is nice to see.

Also, someone mentioned that he might be getting back into pipe. My question is, why would he? He kills the FTW, he's making dope edits, and he's doing his thing...why would you want to ride an icy U ditch where doubles are the norm? I mean, I'm sure he's super competitive and he could kill it again in pipe...but I just don't see why he would. He's got nothing to prove. He's won a gold medal in all disciplines at the X-Games, he won the overall title in his rookie season on the FTW...what does he have to prove?

A lot of people have said that Big Bertha was stupid, but if we are ever going to see people putting down triples, particularly triple corks, properly, something of this size will have to happen again eventually won't it?

People have said that a step over of that size would be safer, but you'd have to be hitting the thing at something around 80-90mph/130-140km/h.

If they built another Big Bertha, a 140-150ft step down, I reckon Bobby, Henshaw etc could handle it. You could have an airbag on the knuckle to reduce the chance of people doing what Candide did. Could that be the way forward for the biggest kickers?

Yes, thats a very good idea. That way we'll hopefully see triples and quads some day. And the airbag could just be painted white, no one would notice in the movies.

Yea triples and quads great idea

wow just watched kamera 2 again, i forgot how much i love candide. they way he attacks bc lines with such power and strength while being so fluid and smooth at the same time, its incredible. defiantly the best skier in the world in my eyes. cant wait for kamera 3 or hopefully the whole movie

I would not quite say that. He is one of the best. He might be the best backcountry/big mountain combo guy, but I don't think he is better than say, Sage, at pure big mountain.

I was really impressed with him winning the FWT, I did not see that coming. Some people feel he was slightly over scored(which I don't agree with) but regardless his skiing was awesome.

He still does not have an AK segment to the level of Sage, Seth, Hoji, or Henrik, if you want to talk about FWT guys. Don't get me wrong, he is still sick, and Kandide Kamera is awesome, but think of Sage skiing Hotel Room(the line at the begining of Under The Influence), Seth skiing the shoulder of that line, or launching 70 foot front flips. Think of Hoji's last line in Seven Sunny Days, that ridiculous spine wall. I have yet to see Candide deliver anything like that, and until he does I won't rate him quite as high as those other guys. He might be able to deliver it, he just has not done it yet.

The best skiing I have ever seen Candide do can be found here:
http://www.freerideworldtour.com/en/multimedia/videos/contest-lines.php#

That is his line on the Bec De Ross.

For sure you are right, I mean he slayed against guys like Henrik Windstedt, Kaj Zacrisson, Aurelian Ducroz, seb michaud. Those guys are easily all the same league as Seth and Sage if not higher due to the fact they drop 40ft+ cliffs onto a 50 degree slope with all of 10cms of pow on at best. I really admire what the guys do in Freeride world Tour, they push the boundrys so hard, I know seth and sage etc do to... but not in the same manner. IMO

The mega hits in Candide Kamera 2 were kickers on top of cliffs, not cliffs in AK lines, there is a difference. Don't get me wrong, those were awesome, but I am talking about pure big mountain stuff, so BC booters don't really factor.

The Candide/Sage AK footage is from Anomaly, and the Untracked episodes from that trip. Honestly, the footage of Candide, from a pure big mountain perspective, was not all that great. He does some cool stuff, but he does not have a monster AK line in that movie, the way Sage does. The Untracked episode is cool to watch(if you can find it) but same thing: There is not a monster AK line. I don't know why, but he just did not put one together the way Sage did. The footage is from Seward Alaska, which could help you track down the Untracked episode.

When it comes to all around backcountry/big mountain domination, Candide might be the best. But I don't factor in his booter stuff when I am talking about just big mountain.

Having said all of that, his line on the Bec De Ross just might be gnarlier than an AK line. The Bec De Ross is insane, and the snow was nothing like Haines. Candide really shredded it, making technical turns and dropping huge cliffs in very dicey conditions.

I would put Candide above Sage/Seth as an all-around skier. In fact, I think he might be the best skier in the world right now.

I think Candide is the best non-Olympic contest skier of all time. No one else has x-games gold medals in big air, pipe, and slopestyle. When you add in the linecatcher, and winning the FWT......No one else can touch that.
