In the movie further is candides d spin over the gap a d spin or a dspin 7. i think its a d spin 7 my friend thinks its a d spin.

and just to mention. talk about improvement. candide kind of faded away last year. this year hes back doing awesome. his pipe skills have improved so much, where did that come from. and that cork 5 off that hip in superpark. he's improved so much.

 
what do you mean by just 'd spin' it is a d spin 7, but there is no such thing as just a d spin, you have to signal the rotation on it by including a number on the end, hence the 7

i can do a dspin without spinning... i can also do a 180 that is actually a 900, and i can also do a backflip that is actually a front flip.

therefore candide actually did a zero spin over the gap.

anyway, a 'd-spin' is a d-spin 7, it's just the base amount that you can spin, so you dont need to call it a '7' if you do more rotation (d-spin 9, or d-spin 12, etc.) then you have to throw in the number so people know what you're saying

you could in essence do a d-5....you'd just have to start it way, way late and spin real slow...but just as long as you get inverted it could be called d....even though most would say cork..since Candide does unbelievable cork 5's, but most of the time he gets somewhat upside down...just my thoughts.

yea, to the guy who started this thread - you're kinda dumb eh? other people have yelled at you for the d-spin thing so i'm not gonna mention that. It's the second part of your post that I'm gonna get into. Last year Candide wasn't doin' the best in competitions, your right - but that don't mean shit as to him not being up there with the big boys. Competition don't mean everything, go watch Royalty and Rastafaride (sp?) and you will see that infact Candide was going strong last year. And your pipe thing - where do you think it came from? same place his d-spin over Chad's gap you know about - he has always been good at the pipe for as long as I've seen footage of him. Go watch 13 - he's got an amazing segment with super smooth corked 7's, rodeo 7's, lincolns, (a really really nice 720 tail in the X-games which I think was way better than JF's switch 720, but whatever, JF's was still impressive at the time), and some nice pipe shit. and again - for the pipe I'd ask if you could place go and watch Royalty, all you need to see really is the one pipe run with his big flare... he does like 2 really big grabs than follows it up with a HUGE flare and sticks the shit out of it.

Alright, well I think you get the point now so I'll stop ripping into ya.

yeah...i agree with daryll...i think candide is one of the sickest skiers out there...his segment of 13 was by far the sickest, and he's just gotten better, with the d over chads gap and all....he's definately my favorite skiier

 
first off...a zero over chads gap would be absolutely amazing....secondly....switch zero spin...that's the funniest thing i've ever heard in my life....you gotta go up to someone and be like all intence and say 'i'm gonna switch zero spin chads gap' and then just do a big gay straight air..it'd be awesome

 
thanks for informing me about that. you can thank ESPN the magazine for that 1 year ago when they were explaining what a d spin was it.

and my point with candide was'nt that he faded away and stuff in terms off how good he is skiing, i ment comps...becaues he did so good for a couple years in comps, faded out, then came back in good this year. i know he's always been a sick rider. i was just talking about comps.

candide is my favorite skier ever. yea, i made a fool out of myself in this post. but he is wicked sick. even if i dont know that a d spin is a dspin7, well i know now, he is wicked sick.

Candide's segment in Mind the Addiction was amazing, I loved that soccer goal grind. And jumping the 4 groomers... sweeet. I thought his crazy thick french accent was hilarious. He made JF & JP appear like English Professors.

haha a d-spin thast the funniest thing ive ever heard no just kidding i thought it was possible to yea in last years espn mag they interviewed jon olssen and explainwed the trick as an off axis 360 to backflip which it basically is except its not a true backflip but just a cork when u come out of it like a backflip
