Candide Thovex is the best skier of all time.

That giant hip jump seriously blew my mind. My sister got me the level 1 movie pack for Christmas, and I believe that was in the 3rd or 4th movie? And it just blew me away at how huge it was, even after all the modern movies I've see.

fairly legit? are you fucking kidding me? that comp deserves more props and respect than any fucking slope or pipe comp ever, have you seen what goes down in the FWT? fucking super human shit. i also guarantee you he can throw a dub flip or cork of somekind. maybe not the best of all time but top 3 for sure
 
i have a large feeling that candide is gonna drop knowledge in his next movie. one of the best skiers all time for sure.
 
If i could only watch one skier for the rest of my life, it would be Candide. He is the greatest skier on Earth, and has been for so long. To attempt some of the things he does is simply insane. Greatest now, greatest ever.
 
sitting here, early hours here in la clusaz, watching finishing touches that will be on the trailer that will be dropping soon... i can tell everyone that they will be stoked! although he is in a edit coma at the moment, matt is finishing the last grading and logo effects, and you all will get a taste of whats to come in the fall... we just finished an epic segment in la balme, with some of his hommies and will be headed out to BC soon so he can finish slaying what he left behind from last year... after seeing the footage so far, CK1&2 were just appetizers... just wanted to reply to this because we all have been working our asses off to make it the best it can be! nobody works harder than him... sit back and enjoy whats to come in the next couple of weeks... ~skye

candide is the absolute man but have you all forgot about tanner fucking hall??!?

not saying one is better than the other. they are both gods in the world of skiing. it is like comparing apples to oranges. i do, however, have a hard time saying candide is the single best. tanner or candide, it's a toss up.

PS: jon has not been in the olympics nor made an olympic team yet, he still has a lot of work to get there
 
Candide is actually french for Skigod. He was always going inhumanly big, he drops lines like a superball downs stairs, Golds in any way you can get them, and just a good dude. BEST SKIER EVER!
 
yea that kid is a moron, hes prob 17 and wasnt even skiing when candide started killing it. Candide = greatest skier of our generation if he stays healthy and keeps killing it.
 
Some of the greatest skiers ever do not compete. Your argument is the rumblings of a simpleton.

 
name one. every single one competed at some point in their carreer. get learned on the history of the the activity son.

completely true statement, but saying Candide is "fairly legit" is a bit of an understatement. lets be honest you sound like a pretentious technicality nazi.

but the dude has not ever competed in the era of the dub, and so Tanner has him on that...by a lot. Candide is a better natty terrain skier by a little though.

in the end, i would give it to Tanner.
 
I didn't say never have competed. But many are more well known and show the quality of their skiing in film segments and not in a subjective format. The reality is that since you want to use competition as a litmus test then only racers qualify because their are nit subjectively judged.

What does it matter? Park skiing, let alone the 'era of the dub', wouldn't even exist at the level it does without his ground-breaking contributions. Your failure to recognise his mastery of the sport makes it seems as if you haven't been paying attention to anything that's happened in skiing for the past 15 years.
 
Candide has always seemed to be on a different level. Tough to say he is the best of all time only because everyone defines "best skier" differently. Personally I think "best skier" means all around so yes, I put Candide up there as one of the best. You could probably argue Tanner as well due to his racing and mogul upbringing. Some people may define best skier and take into account what they have done for the sport and say Mike Douglas (although I could do without him at Winter X). Seth Morrison has to enter the conversation as well since he was a BC pioneer taking park tricks to the cliffs. There are so many aspects to "best skier" that make it hard to pin just one person to that title but I don't think you are far off with Candide.

 
definitely best skier of the past decade. influence wise though you gotta throw around shane mcconkey or seth morrison's names. no doubt candide throws down better than anyone though

Man after watching the trailer for few words i cant wait for that shit to come out. Not only was there some sick skiing in there, the shots are fucking gorgeous. I cant remember the last time i saw a ski movie that looked so good

Well since people are shouting out who they think is the best skier of all time, how bout Jon...He slays in all aspects and has proven himself in them.

But that being said, I think Candide takes the cake. He slays everywhere and anywhere, and contributed more to skiing than we can comprehend.
