Candide is hand down the most talented skier of all time all the shit hes done his movies cork 810's to rail, 1st one to stomp chads with that mute grab then a d-spin 7 over it the next year, winning x-games, having one f the sickest parts ever in 13 , his pipe run that won him x games and the way he skates and just his over all skills he was junior national mogul champ in france coulda won a gold medal for that but quit, he shreds big mountain harder han 98 % of even pro big mountain skiers and skates almost as well as come pro skaters hes a good surfer snowboards quite welll

and is just a straight up pimp! Long live the King...
 
chad zurinkas (sp?) was the first to do chad's gap, hence the name. but yeah candide is definately one of my top 3 skiers to watch. don't forget his total slayage of that massive hip at the powder superpark 3 years ago or something where he did those huge ass cork 5s.
 
True! but, I don't think you can say "he skates as well as pro skateboarders"... even if he's a very good skateboarder!

No. Candide was with Chad when it happened, but no one knew who Candide was, so it became Chad's Gap instead of That Weird Little French Guy Gap. That's something every freeskier should know, and it should probably be included in world history texts from now on.

Candide's really good, but not the most talented skier of all time. He has def done so much for the sport, but I cant say who the most talented skeir ever is, but you cant discount guys like Scot Schimdt and plake. Candide, Pollard, pep, maybe even vanular or tanner way done the line later in their careers may be the best all time. Saying someone is the ebst ever says a lot.
 
He is not god........but he is definately one of the skiers who has been in the game for the longest time. The dude has just been skiing for soo long, he just has everything down pack. But thats just how they ride in europe man. Their parks, and BC are NUTs. Kids out there are bred for this shit since they are 5 man.
 
i would almost say he might be. there hasnt been one person alive yet with the full all around bomber skills that candide had. those old guys, schmidt, plake, stump, what they did was monumental back in the day- but kids today (ie, candide) are throwing 3's and 5's off the same cliffs those guys were just dropping back in the day. pollard doesnt have anywhere near the rail mastery candide does, and tanner nor corey v can match candide in the backcountry. seth and sage probably huck bigger in the woods, but they dont hit a lot of rails or enter comps, either, let alone go and rock the halfpipe.

i could go on and on with candide...but basically he has the skills in every aspect of the sport

Candide is god he makes other skiers look stupid Tanner is sick but tanner has to train his ass of to be as good as he is Candide is just that good he never rides pipe casue there arent many good pipes in europe and he still wins.
 
true true, But I still think tanner and vanular have the potential to exceed candide, vanular especially.

I think Tanner's run is about done - the footy from Show and Prove that's in the trailer is basically the same stuff as was in TBC, and he's not getting any younger.

Vanular does have a shot though - he's got rails better than Candide (he slays urban with the same tech shit that everyone else can only do in the park for the most part), and his park and pipe are on par with Candide as well. Vanular's style is more versatile as well, he can go from steezebot to tech shit in no time. The only area he's lacking in is big mountain, and I don't think I've ever heard about him saying that he wants to get into that stuff. We'll see though. But I think Vanular has what it takes to completely re-define what it takes to be the top pro in skiing.
 
Do you know what potential means? They don't compare now, but vanular has gotten so good and he will only get better, and in the future if he does some big mountain stuff which is inevitable, he may exceed candide.
 
im getting sick of tanner. i mean sure, hes an amazing skier, but he needs an attitude adjustment. 1/2 of his seg. in TBC was just him complaining about his injury. oh no you got injured, you work in a high-risk sport/enviroment, things like that happen. you broke your ankels and then were back skiing in a few months. look at someone like marc-andre, who might be paralized for the rest of his life. think about that the next time you decide to complain for 1/2 your seg about a minor injury.

back to the subject at hand....i agree, candide has, is, and will most likely always be, one of my favorite skiers (crichton and pep are up there too). yeti pretty much summed it up, nothing much more i can add to it, other then i agree.
 
shut the fuck up you retard, why would you even say something like that? paralyzed or broken ankles, injuries are horrible. you should respect the guy for getting up and skiing again and doing what he loves. and for marc-andre, ya he had it worse. but this fuckin pisses me off that you would even think of saying shit like '1/2 the seg was him complaining about a minor injury' i'd like to see you fuckin break your ankles.

tanner hall has done more for this sport then you will for anything in your whole life. maybe you never got the memo about how he shaped skiings style and overall tricks. these pros that you so rudely insult, are in fact the breeders of the sport you participate in. maybe one year, no body should produce movies, then we'll see what you say abut half of halls segment being bitching about his injury, bitch.
 
i would say candide, jon, pollard, and pep for best now, tanner is good but his big mountain skiing is not on par with the rest. i noticed no one mentioned jon, but he is the only newschool guy to actully win a legit big mountain comp. both candide and jon have excelled at many aspects of the sport, and have shown the rest of the skiing community how to put on an event. pollard and pep, both oregonians might i add, have brought to reality "bringing newschool to the backcountry." this is something that many skiers talk about, but few acutually do and even fewer do successfully (besides them: dougles, JP, julien, abma, CR...)
 
ACtually Henrick Windersted won the Scandi Extremes 3 years in a row all before the age of 20 hes the 2nd best skier all round in my opinion it goes liek this.

Candide is NOT a skiing god, but he's damn crazy.

To claim that Candide is the best skiier alive today is imo completely out of hand. There's a lot of professional skiiers today that have techincal skills beyond candides.

My first complaint about candide is that he never goes unatural, not from what I've seen anyway. He's is also doing the same tricks with the same style he's done year after year (cork 720, 360 tailgrab,blunt). I would like to see him at try some nose grabs, truckdrivers, double grabs. I feels to me like he's afraid of trying to develop his style, afriad of looking unsmooth and ugly.

People here are saying candide owns Tanner in the BC. How can you possibly say that? Tanner is doing huuge sw 9 freshtracks

and switch 5s of cliffs bigger than anything i've ever seen Candide drop. I talked to Jakob Wester about Tanner in the BC and he said he was absolutely confident that no one today is slaying tricks in the BC as hard as Tanner. Not even Jon, Candide etc.

As for park alot of people are alot more skilled than Candide. He sure may have a big bag of tricks but he never uses it. I'll change my mind when I see him do a superstylie sw 7 truckdriver. Neither is he in on the new double flip movement like Jon and I really think thats the future of newschool skiing.

But then we have Candides real asset, making him so adored. His craziness. It is true that he practically goes bigger then any other skiier today. His spins to rail is also mindblowing, combining craziness with real tech. In pipe he goes huuuuge. For those things also I love wathing him.

But that really doesn't make hime the best skiiers in world.

His shortcomings, which I hopefully maked clear, is just to many. IMHO.

 
i know...i broke my back skiing 3 years ago, i just think someone as good as tanner (and yes i agree he is an amazing skier) could do more with a seg then complain about his injury. its just my opinion, and apparently no one likes it but w/e. i still have my opinion.
 
oh and did i say anything about how i dont think he isnt a great skier? no, i merely mentioned the fact that i think he could have done less complaining and more skiing in his seg.

i should have started that post by saying "im sick of tanner's attitude" but w/e.
 
So by not liking him like everybody else does that makes a him an "ignorant bastard?" I don't get your logic behind that. Every person has a right to their own opinion; if it isn't the same as yours that does not make them ignorant (which is quite possibly the most overused word on this website). Next time just state that you disagree with that statement instead of throwing out thoughtless accusations that you can't justify.
 
To mention someone elses opinion as an argument for your own opinion, isn't that cool, and I don't have a clue what you are trying to say by mentioning that?

 
I said that because Jakob have seen them both ski for real alot and knows better then me and preobably better than most people on this site about these proskieers real skills.
 
i remember watching this show with candide before i started freeskiing, i thought he was amazing and he pretty much got me into the sport
