he is the perfect rider in every way: he defines progression

pipe: redefined it in 03

park: always has dominated it, anone remember that hip jump he took straight on??? i woudl love for him to have input designing superpark

rails: 810

going big: every thing he has ever done

he pushes the envolope all the time, and frequently too far as evidenced by he frequent injuries, no one else pushed themselves as hard at the x games...

remember when tanner came down after his second run and said he guessed that he'd have to boost a little higher??? he realized his amplitude wasn't enough and so he should've put it all on the line and booosted as high as he could out of the pipe. he already had a lock on second, why not put it all on the line for first?? instead he decided to try to add a little more tech into his already super-tech run.

progression is what its all about, and it just pisses me off that tanner didnt step it up. how sweet could tanner be if he decided to go as high as candide/dumont???

'stepping it up' and doing somethign amazing is what our sport is all about.

to those of you that say tanner got robbed by the dumont...woudl you rather see comps going in the direction of hucked-yet-stylie big spins with small height or huge height with sweet tricks?

i heard a rumor that sprong learned sw 10's AT the open...thats what its all about

first of all. Candide has NO style. He is insane, he is rediculous. But I hope to god no one else turns into him cause his style is so hideous I cant take it. He overtweaks every grab, over crosses every grab. Throws his legs out liek a madman. Etc. Flails to shit. Also, Just because I would rather see people go huge in the pipe and do sweet tricks doesnt mean that it should win in a comp. Hell, I would like to see cork 5s and 3s win slopestyle but its not how it is. A comp is a MIX of tech and amplitude and style and fluidity etc not just one of them. Yes, Simon may be progressing mroe in the pipe than tanner with the big airs. But until he can throw 9s in those big airs as stylishly as tanner can in his runs, he doesnt deserve to win.

dumont should be rewarded for going 10 ft higher than anyone else and putting together a good run

it would be on ething if he were fields and got only a few hits out of it, but simon put together a pretty good run AND boosted

mikee, i gotta call you out on this one. maybe that was true in videos a couple years ago, i dunno. but if you watched slopestyle prelims, candide's first run was so unbelievably smooth, and flowed soo much better than everyone else's, that i could not believe my eyes. the only reason he didnt qualify with it is because he hung himself up taking off switch on the money booter, but still managed to land it. again, the flow in that run was miles ahead of any other run i have ever seen. candide is the man.

lax- you make it sound like Tanner decided to not go big, Dumont is the man for bustin that high in a solid pipe, you can't get the traction on the wall to pop as well in those conditions. I think T was trying his hardest to get up. The one I'd say was holding back was Jon, not Tanner

No... most pros do a variety of grabs. There are a few pros that suffer from saftygrabitus but you don't see them in the X-Games.

 
i personaly think that a safety shouldn't be done in x or any competition... its just not stylish, impressive or hard to do (granted the roations may be difficult, but not the grab itself)... i personnaly think that the best grabs and only ones that should be seen in competition for the awe effect are tail, true tail, nose, true nose, mute (and of course all the reverses in there too...)... all crossed up is the best for style and technicity

ok what the fuck 'overtweak' there is no such think u stupid dick the objective to grabing is tweaking it as much as u can with most grabs overtweaking is unexisting and as far as candides style go i like the pole plante i mean if u look at it kinda helps him carve into the jump a bit and i personally like it

SOmeone hook me up with his prelim run and I may rethink what I think of him. And I guess style is a opinion. But I dont see how you can liek his tails. They ar ethe most hideous thing ever. Style is about looking relaxed, candide just looks like a madman. He looks out of control and all over the place, and its annoying. At least tanner when he tweaks the shit out of his grabs does it smoothly and it seems like thats what he was trying to do. To say that candide is style is.... rediculous. You cant tell me that what he does is a standard version of perfect style. You may like it or you may not. But... jesus christ, if you think tanners cork 3s could be upped by a cork 3 of candides... I think you are wrong.

i would ACTUALLY like to say candides style HURTS me because its so disgusting. he may be cool , he may be good, he may be progressive but when i see his tails gaylleeeeee crossed out in some stupid way that makes my eyes HURT like some one just squirted me with lemon juice , i DONT WANT TO SEE IT because its terrible.the guy's steezie is horrendous and it ONLY GETS WORSE , hes gone downhill. and whoever said that safetries shoudltn be done in competitio nobviously is lacking a little bit of common sense about STYLE which is probably why you like candide. because just crossing your skis everysingle time and grabbign on a different location is a little lame especially when safeties are actually probably the steeziest grab there is ( if done right).
