After continually watching the PullUp trailer, I can't help thinking of how much ass Candide has and still stomps on the ski world. It's mind blowing, the guy has been killing it for so long, and still is.

Play Jibberish, go to the Movie Hits, look how many of those things he put the "shot" down on. The hip, gap-to-rail, multiple rails, it's incredible.

Think about him on Chad's, correct me if I am wrong but he cleared it with a straight air when he was about 16? And then he was the one to Dspin7 that shit way back in what seems like 1974 in these days ski terms. He has just been killing it.

So what if the man switches sponsors often or is some kind of crazy frenchmen, he is a huge part of skiing and just continues to amaze and yes, "progress" the sport.

Watch PullUp, again for most of you, and just watch. He is what so many skiers coming up want to be. It's incredible.

Allthough he has some limits. for example his range of grabs are really bad, he's not that good at unnatural spins, he can only do fakie spins up to 7's, over that and they'll get ugly.

So for shoting movies the guy kicks ass, but he would be pwnd for sure on a slopestyle-course cuz' his lack of variety. but he should get respect for what he is good at. Some skiers just focus on different things than the norm...

there are a few different places that could be mistaken for the 810.

make sure you are lookin at the right clip

candide is the sleeper skiier. he never really says much in any films or in the media but has done more to date than any dude who has whored the media.

I think what's so remarkable about candide, is that he has done so much while being hurt a lot. His pipe runs are amazing too, I don't know why no one has said that yet.

In all honestly, you are 1/2 correct. Don't make it sound like I'm all over Candides cock here but listen.

Point 1: Switch spins over 7 "They'll get ugly" How can you tell me they will get ugly, maybe he understands everyone and his pet gerbil is pulling swtich 9's and 10's and making them look average, at best. Look at the god damn '05 Us Open Big air, everything was a god damn switch left or right 10, and alot was getting their huck on. I know I have a lot of support on that one. You don't need to be a mega-spinner to be an elite skier, and the slower smaller spins really bring the tech-ness to skiing and show how its done, now some super fast spin off a 60ft booter. He can spin them, ever think he just dosen't feel the need to?

Point 2: "his range of grabs are really bad." Yes in PullUp and in the past the man has had a tendency to pull tail and blunts, but could you really say he couldn't grab saftey, or evenmute, or a phil. If he's crossing his skis, and grabbing the dead tail or real close to it, he could easily grab other ways too, including under the boot. And has in the past. For me, blunts and tails with corked spins look the sickets anyways, and are among the hardest to put down. Please, go out and throw a cab7 off a BC booter, and put down a super big blunt, or even a tail down, and make it look as good, and then stomp it about 10 years in a row, then come back and complain.

Point 3:"he's not that good at unnatural spins" I think I have to beg to differ. Another reference to the Pull Up trailer, which is my easiest ammo-for-argument. Look at his tricks. Tow in rail, left cork 3 blunt, Mammoth vert box, s-coaster rail, cork 5-9 in pipe, at least a 5 blunt on the candide invite 100footer, switch 7, gap box with a switch-up, BC 7 blunt(corked needless to say) Switch cork 3 blunt on the 100footer, cliff drop cork 3 or 5, full on tree jib bonanaza. Yah he goes left side a lot but does that really matter a WHOLE lot, he can and does spin left and right, but his sickest comes from his left. As much as has been said on spinning on both ways, skiing is NOT, I repeate NOT, at that point yet.

Where you are correct is in saying, "So for shoting movies the guy kicks ass" and "Some skiers just focus on different things than the norm..."

Everything else was just plain silly and not looking at the big picture of things.

i absolutely love it how every NS'er and his little brother follows the trend and says one minute that switch 10's are played out, and that they love slow, stylier tricks. candide is a perfect example of the skier you describe, but then you hate on him by saying he doesn't do switch 10's. bloody hypocrites.

candide. plain and simple, goes huge. in very innovative ways. and always has. he's incredible.

Dude you got it so right.

I mean everybody says "a 1080 can be stylish if it's off a big jump" but what did candide do on that hip at mammoth? 540.

Sure 10 looks better on a huge jump, but man does a 5 look 4000% better.

Increase the peace?

Another thing about candide that sets him apart from other skiers is how he pulls amazing recoveries when he fucks up. In french toast they show him deck out on huge flairs and cork 5's in the pipe several times and he just absorbs the impact, rides out of it switch and continues his run. Its nuts, these deck outs look like they would kill a normal person. Also, in the credits of french toast they show him cork 9 a 50-60 foot gap. He comes up a little short, absorbs the impact, literally bounces, throws another 180 and rides out of it as a 10. Stuff like this shows a natural ability that not many other skiers have.

 
yeah i think huge slow smooth spins r way cooler then a switch 1080, i mean in the us open big air schiller was going agaist someone, they crashed so schiller did a huuuggge corked five, and i thought it was the best trick thrown in the whole comp

you in my opinion are 100 % correct an i get the same feeling when i see a huge slow 5 or a super fast 1080 or 1260 they're just when i see a fast 12 or 10 i think wow that was huge but when i see something like candides 5 on the mamoth hip or something its more wow look how slow he's going look how high he is (gets me more pumped for some reason)

well, in mikee's defense, candide has been known to flail, and only grabs tail. so his stance is valid. not that i agree with it, but it does have some merit.

but, i totally agree about candide's ability to recover. he's seriously got the balance of a cat. in this years x slopestyle qualifiers, he had THE illest run of all time going. it flowed like...i dont know what. but it had the most flow in a run that i had ever seen, and my jaw was sitting nicely on the floor. as he came in to the money booter switch and started his rotation, his ski caught, and it catapulted him forwards. any other skier in the world would have faceplanted very badly after having this happen, but candide seriously defied the laws of physics and somewhere, somehow got back on axis and stomped the switch cork 180. i was so stunned, like woah.

it was the quik add sequence in aussie mag's POWDERHOUND and CHILLFACTOR that i checked out, and its definately a 630 on them. but the thing is, i remember seeing footage somewhere else a while back that i watched a few times and it looked to me like a fair dinkum 810. mighta been a different one to the quik add... but theyre still claiming it. but either way, switch cork 630/810 is still fucking UNTOUCHABLE.
