Most of our understanding about cancer comes from the study of free radicals. It basically happens when bonds split in a molecule leaving an odd unpaired electron. I believe these come from the nicotine and tar, but I'm not positive.

yah its when the random chemicals like the stuff they use to remove varnish on hardwood floors gets into the cells. Mutations occour and cancer is the result.
