Canadian Slang

hockey slang eh??

chirp = insult someone.

twig = hockey stick.

pilon = shitty player. (not to be confuzzed with pile on).

wheel = skate fast.

wheels = hockey skates.

dangle = to stick handle, deek, toe drag etc...

clapper = hard shot.

cheddar = top cheese = top shelf = grandmas cubbord = the upper portion of the net.

duster = someone who sits on the bench alot, or a pretty serious moustach.

apple = assist.

"W" = win.

bucket = helmet.

flow = hockey hair = mullet = slick back.

miles = minutes left in game.

reggin = naggar (except replace the A with an I). mooncricket is also acceptable.

stripes = refferee.

liney = linesman

backie = back hand.

sauce = sauce.

quarter = period.

and so on...
 
Definitely hockey slang, I hear most of those all the time in Minnesota. Then again Minnesota's basically an annex of Canada so it could be both haha
 
There is so much slang around hockey;

Twig- Hockey stick

Bucket- Helmet

Dangle- A nice deke

Apple- Assist

Gino- Goal

Pop a gino- Score a goal

Snipe ched- Score a goal

Go bar-d - Go bar down

Dummy him- Hit him hard

Gongshow- Terrible player

There's much more but I can think of any of it. When the cage on your helmet is below your chin its your hang

 
When I played hockey we called people who sucked 'benders' which is a reference to the kids you see at public sessions with their skates not tied tight enough and thus they're ankles are bending.

Wheeling and Duster are amazing slang terms, also if you don't have game you have square wheels

ive never heard benders, we call them burners. as in ankle burners cause they cant skate.
 
I cannot quote this one enough. This is all we call each other haha. And the word wheeling is fucking gay, glad Im out of high school and dont have to hear it.
 
oh canada, ive heard all these, use them occasionally, and i defiantly think its more of an ontario thing ya know?
 
I've been spending a few years out East and as masters of their own goddamned version of the English language Maritimers derserve an honourable mention:

By'e = buddy/ boy: general way to refer to someone you know, usually comes at the end of a sentence, and spoken more in Newfoundland

Bass= Boss (with the maritime intonation) also refering to someone you know

Gooned= drunk

Tuned= drunk

Sideways= drunk

Liquored= drunk

Onterrible=Ontario

Out west=Toronto

Worst-case Ontario= Someone from Ontario

Shinny= Casual hockey

Scally= Woman rated 6 or below out of 10

Swamp Donkey= See 'Scally'

Mickey= Booze sampler from the store, called a 'sampler'

Pint= Called a 'Mickey' in the rest of Canada

Quart= Called a 26'er in the rest of Canada

Out of my tree= to be high

Bet' up= to be beaten up

I know theres much more I can't think of right now.
