Canadian Parliament dissolved

With ACID!

... How's this for a stretch: I'm probably voting Conservative.

harper is such an idiot, he thinks he's playing politics, we all know he's trying to make himself a benevolent dictator with this fucking election.

"Liberal leader Stephane Dion, a former environment minister who named his dog Kyoto, wants to increase taxes on greenhouse gas emitters. "

Wow...what an awkward closure.

Either way, im going green in the name of democracy!

want to hear something fucking sad about the goverment and how fucking dumb they are.

Well basically in an area of Ottawa they are complaining about the amount of litter and they are requesting for more garbage cans which will hopefully = less litter. So The city counsil( or whoever is incharge of that) agree's BUT they are hiering someone and paying them $300 000.00 to fucking study which type of garbage cans would be best to buy and if thats not bad enough there not getting the results until 2010 or 2012( cant remember which).... yea and we complain about the american goverment( which i am still totally agaisnt most of the stuff that goes on there) hopefully idiot things like this are just happening in Ottawa and not to many other palces.

You said it was the city councils choice to do the dumb study...thats not the federal government.

So instead you gave us an example of a dumb city council and not a dumb government

that is pretty retarded i must admit but i doubt that's at a federal level so it really doesn't apply to anyone who isn't in ontario. i know that here in calgary they're asking for more garbages around the city, maybe even recycling bins seeing as how most of our litter is recyclable. i haven't seen any action though. i hate being a litterbug, but i'm not going to carry my garbage all over town until i get home because there are no bins on the streets.

Well yeah... Harper dude just asks some lady whose role is purely ceremonial to dissolve Parliament and boom, new elections. Shouldn't there be some process to that?

He's the guy in charge, we elect him to make these decisions when something like a minority government is stalled out and not really doing anything productive. Who else would you get to make this call?

am i the only one who thinks 18 is a little to early for the right to vote? cause realisticly how many 18 year olds are involved enough in politics to make a fair decision.

sorry this is a bit of a tangent, but im 18 and i realized i can now vote.

sorry bud, but I totally fucking disagree with your statement. This just shows the ignorance of people.

18 too young to vote.. umm no. You should be involved with politics at that age and should have a pretty full understanding of what is going on with your country, especially politically.

If anything you should be able to vote when you pay taxes, your first job. If they are taking your money, then you should have the right to decide how your money is being spent.

i have a fair knowledge of government, not a ton, i will admit that.

im talkin about what i see through a lot of people. dits's and burnouts and all that.

i just feel that from what ive seen, a lot of people dont seem to be mature enough to make informed descisions.

well with americas weak economy, it is going to negatively affect canadas economy. for the first time in a while the conservatives are going to have to acknowledge a deficit which doesn't bode over well with the population, further more having an election before the conclusion of the american election is another factor since a democratic win in america usually gives the left leaning liberal momentum in the polls because people feel that two left leaning governments in two different neighboring countries will be able to work together better.

actually i think this is the ideal age, i just think kids need to be better educated on the system. so that they dont think that they should vote for the guy that wants to legalize weed, just so that they can go smoke....

Really though, I am a useless cunt when it comes to my own country's politics. I've got no idea what's going on. but now that im 18 and i can vote for someone, I think I'll be more motivated and interested to see how it's all working.

I do know that voter turnouts need to be higher in our country, democracy is only going to work when everybody votes, otherwise you only have 60% of the country voting and deciding where the rest of the country should be. And that ain't right.

you just dropped from 1906 to 1875 because of me...

taste my negative karma! try the pancakes... bitch...

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I was only joking. I live in America. We are ignorant to your politics and I have no idea what you guys are talking about.

i feel the same way, and i got the joke the first time

booyah

i really should pay more attention to the world news, although the american media is pretty fucked up and narrow with their coverage when it comes to international stuff

Guardian is pretty good.

So are sites like www.current.com and www.digg.com. I think user-submited news sites can be super informative so long as you watch who they are sourcing in the stories. Most of the time they are legit sources like journal articles or big name news sites (like guardian) but sometimes you get some real b/s shit being submitted.

never underestimate the power of the dark side.

haha, glad to have your vote. I will (obviously) also be voting conservative. though with the quality of the rest of the parties/leaders out there right now, is there really any other choice?

I sort of agree. When they made this destion a long time ago, by 18 you were an adult, possibly married, a kid. But now a days, 18 you're still a kid, going to school, messing around, etc.

But yet, educated college kids in today's world can actually make a huge and positive difference.

There is: NDP. I would never want them to win any real power, but consider them the best opposition party in the world, and Layton is brilliant at holding feet to the fire, whether they be liberal or conservative feet. They get money based on total vote count so I could consider voting for them.

My opposition to the libs is based solely on my disgust after watching the last nomination convention. Put Ignatieff in charge and you'll have your government back, you assholes.
