Theres the mountain shadow hostel in Rossland which is like $20 a night or something.

If you're coming from Van. the closest airport is in Trail, from anywhere else you'll go to Castlegar (cancelgar) and your flight will have a good chance of not landing if there is a storm. Your best bet is to fly to either Cranbrook or Kelowna and get some sort of transportation to Rossland.
