So the other day at work I go into the refrigerator to get my morning mountain dew to find that the only pop left in the refrigerator was caffeine free diet mountain dew. It sounded like the worse possible pop in existence. I drank it and it was awful so I went online to find out if anyone else thought this was as big of a waste of liquid as I did. Thats when I discovered that in Canada, Mountain Dew doesn't have caffeine because of some regulation prohibiting the addition of caffeine to non-cola food products.

What the fuck is the point Canada? If your mountain dew isn't loaded with caffeine its just sprite mixed with orange juice.
 
that's pretty pathetic/funny on canada's part but caffeine doesn't make that much difference if any in taste. it just gives you a little boost. i didn't even think mtn dew had that much anyways
 
im pretty sure canadian mtn dew has caffeine...cuz theres regular and caffeine free diet. and about the "cola" thing, what about energy drinks?
 
energy drinks are not considered pop, there are under a different category. It's like health drinks or something.
 
dude, i want answers too. I am originally from Michigan and am a huge fan of barqs root beer. Well in Michigan barqs kicks ass because it has caffeine, however here in Colorado all barqs root beer is caffeine free. I dont get it at all.
 
Both Canada and the United States have shitty bear. Canada is less shitty. Micros included.

i will be the first to say that caffiene free dew tastes the same as regular dew. Are you sure it wasn't the diet caffiene free kind?
 
I'm aware that caffeine has almost no taste and it was caffeine free diet I was drinking but thats not the point I'm trying to make. Mountain Dew's whole marketing strategy is based on the fact that it is XTREME and without the extra boost of caffeine I just can't imagine myself feeling extreme after drinking it. Half the reason I drink Mountain Dew is the caffeine.
