Who are you gonna vote for? and why?

I'm gonna vote for the Bloc Québecois for sure fuck the god damn liberals they are all so much corrupted today I red that some1 banned from liberal party because of the sponsorship scandalous things, is still working for them even if he is banned and is one of the one implicated in the scandal. Steven Harper is way too much conversative for me and then there is the NPD who isn't bad but centralise the power way too much just like the liberals. And I'm a separatist too so there is another reason, not the main one but it's another reason that's i'll vote for the Bloc Quebecois Otherwhise I would vote for the NPD

Separatist eh. What's your opinion on a Quebec national hockey team? Hahaha.

Liberal for sure. Screw the Bloc they suck ass.

PS. Maybe the liberals are corrupted but do you seriously think that the other parties ain't? All politicians screw the people w/o them knowing.

Thing is Canada politic works as if there was no alternative to the liberals. And look at what this situation led us to...

Screw those liberals. Not every politicians is as corrupted as them. They're so corrupted because they are convinced that they are the only "true" alternative in the country. Time has come to show them they arent. Plus their arrogance of the last few days is disgusting especially Petigrew's declaration on the PQ...

^^^word!

I think the best is a liberal or a NPD minotary goverment, and the best way to go beyond that in quebec is to vote for the bloc Quebecois. And as a Quebec national hockey team haha I think they would own... Montreal Canadian did win so many stanley cup because before they had a 1st choice every quebec player... but i still think it's pretty stupid.

So what are reason for seperation? U hate quebec enough to support it's establishement as a new country and economically fuck itself?

^Yeah right it'll fuck itself..that is so ignorant. History has proved you're wrong. Any country that had is independance only suffered minor effects on his economy: about a lost of 1-2% and for a short period in time.

Anyway, let's take this one step at a time. First, we must show those liberals they arent wanted anymore. The referendum can wait if you ask me. I'm not convinced right now that we're ready for a referendum. I'm waiting for the people to show me they want a real change then maybe it'll be the right time for a referendum but until then I'm keeping it quiet on the independance part.

History has proved itself? like where? India? any of the soviet satelite countries?

Where are you talking about?

And you know all those sweet little hydro projects in Quebec, exporting all that power to the states? guess who owns those, the federal government!! and im not sure they'll be all that happy with just handing them over come seperation

i think we should let them separate. do we really want them anyways? lol...

just kidding

Yeah im going liberal or perhaps NDP i am still undecided but def not conservative. and im pretty sure i cant vote bloc.

Its hard for an economy to tank when really isn't one to begin with. Not to take sides or anything.

Hydro-Québec was created by our Québec government back in the 40's and René Lévesque created Hydro-Québec international back in the 70's which launch the exportation of our electricity. Canada has close to nothing to do with our hydroelectricity. Yeah the liberals of Québec were in part responsible for the hydroelectricity project but electricity is a provincial competence.

For all you separatists out there, there is an article on SI.com about the possibility of a Quebec national hockey team, and how it wouldn't be all that great (re: absolutely no defense).

And if you did separate (which i would welcome) your economy would tank. The province of Quebec (along with all the maritimes) get so much federal assistance in the form of transfer payments (pretty much all coming from Ontario and Alberta) that without them you would be fucked.

So go ahead, separate, I'd welcome the day.

^^ your god damn wrong, don't you know the desiquilibre fiscal dude? that's a reason why we need to separate. And by the way I'm not about a radical separation you gotta be a stupid fuck god I don't hate canada, I just think it's better to quebec to be alone in it's decision since we have a different culture, we don't want the same thing as Alberta and we are still in the same country and because there is too much of a centralisation of the power and bs.

for economy what would it change? really man? we would still be in a free trade and shit it wouldn't change shit we would probly keep the canadian dollar. it's just that for culture and taxes it will rock it up since we wouldn't have to pay for stupid ass things and have more money than we have now and many other reason

yea there is a smart move vote bloc...so then u fuckers can piss off and dont have to bitch about us english canadians anymore...u will come bakc in a few years crying like bitches becasue you would not support yourselves.

I'm not Canadian, but being in Northern VT, I hear about all this stuff. I know what the Bloc's deal is, but is it just a desperation vote? Because they obviously won't win and if they did it would do nothing to keep the country in unity. Just curious.

I will vote conservative. It is ridiculous that people are forced to pay 50% tax if they make more then 100 000 a year. I find that it takes away much of the motivation to make more money when more and more of it will be taken away.

Sure Karl Marx and his theory's about the re-distribution of wealth are great in a PERFECT WORLD but in the real world we must rely on Adam Smiths theory's about the invisible hand and englightened self-interest.

Vote conservative, because the NDP will simply prop up another corrupt government.

A few pointers for voters:

Bloc Québecois: People that vote for Bloc would make a better statement by cancelling their vote. Since it is impossible for the Bloc to win the election, they can only ever be an opposition party. However, in parliament, opposition parties essentially hold no functions at all, because as soon as a government is majoritary, it can make all the laws it wants (party discipline obliges).

Whatever your political affiliation may be (i.e. seperatist or not), a vote for the Bloc thus serves absolutely nothing, except to prevent a majoritary government , which we need if we want to actually advance here.

NDP: A lot of people vote for NDP simply because they believe in "leftist" values. That's your choice, but keep in mind that the NDP is the party that is, by far, the most for a centralisation of the country (i.e less power to provinces and more to federal). Which is bad.

Conservative: If you're voting Conservative, you're voting for a party that sided with the Bloc Québécois to overthrow our government. Go figure.

Liberal: Definitely the best twelve years of our country (since 1993), our economy is booming: the country is just plain going well. However, incidents like the sponsorship scandal and the even more suspicous gun registry (from 50million to 2 billion, I believe), raise serious questions. Does it still hold the "moral authority" to govern? I'm not quite sure.

So all in all... each party sucks (but especially Bloc). So I have no idea who to vote for. None.

whoa whoa whoa buddy

hold on here

I living in bc and you fuckin easterners have ALOT of fucking say in the country, you and ontario, out populate all countries to the west of you. if we all vote one way, and you all vote the other... we get the shitty diaper here!

if you think you have a different culture, which you DID have 3 or 4 generations ago but not anymore except for the fact that you speak french, why don't the inuits separate, why dont the punjabs separate, etc... It is sellfish to screw over a country's identity just because you pretend you're so different, but let me tell you right now that quebecois people in their culture and way of living are 95% canadian/north american, and maybe 5% french because of the language, nothing else. And you're right, I think Quebec has enough resources to survive independtly, but over the years separatists have proven themselves to be dumbasses(coke addicts?) that are no better than terrorists or thugs, and i don't think Quebec will subsist. And I really don't see why you would wanna separate in the first place, Canada and its government is not really slowing down any province's growth, you have a low drinking age, people live comfortably. Sellfish move to vote for indepency...

Don't waste your vote on the NDP, vote liberal just so conservatives don't get it. Ah if Steven Harper is elected I will be very scared.

wow... and the lack of political intelligence is ripe here. The Bloc may lack the ability to win an election, but with a Conservative-Bloc alliance it is actually highly probable this election that we will be able to keep the corrupt politicians out of power.

As well as to your comment that we are the best country since the liberanos (not a typo think sopranos) came to power i disagree. We have lessened our requirments for immigration, now we have a multitude of jamaican related shootings in toronto. I beleive close to 50 in the past year. As well we now have many people who can not speak English or French, at one point these were a neccessity for immigrating to this nation.

I have had a relative fight in every singly major conflict for Canada, and they did not lay their lives on the line to allow us to become a place where people come and abuse the services we provide. The conservative party would tighten immigration thus allowing the country to better itself. As well Harper is not corrup unlike the honourable (cough cough) Mr. Martin.

Vote Bloc or Conservative and let your vote count!

and if you really don't want to vote Bloc or Conservative, vote NDP, at least Layton is fairly honest and has a set of beleifs unlike the Liberals who change their policys based on public opinion.

Vote Conservative or Bloc!

Cuz god forbid that politicians elected to represent the people sometimes change their opinions and policies when their constituents are all up in arms saying "hey assholes, we don't like that, so don't do it". Sometimes, it's a good thing to change your mind.

Or did you like the idea of a dictatorship? A responsive, elected, representative government will sometimes change its policy initiatives if there's a public outcry because it's what they're SUPPOSED to do. You're not voting for a dictatorship, you're voting for a representational government.

You know who you should vote for? The party that best aligns with your personal beliefs. If everyone did that, as opposed to voting against some party, or strategically, or whatever, maybe we wouldn't get so screwed everytime an election pops up.

You get the government you deserve.

have you ever taken a history course? that statement is one of the stupidest things I've ever read.

oh and if quebec goes, canada gets cut in two and is in trouble. Plus of course quebec is fucked, because once you give back all the federal shit that was put in there (yeah....like hydro) itll be left with nothing to eat except maple syrup. I love quebec. I love canada. Why seperate? It wont help out the quebec situation any.

No, the liberals listen to whatever group has the most money and the biggest mouth.

Look at gay marriage? The reason their was no referendum on such a huge issue in the country is becaused it was guarenteed to fail. Polling done by ipsos-reid (2003) showed that only 26% of canadians supported gay marriage.

Don't vote with the party that base's its policys on how much money they can have donated to them.

As well the liberanos spent a few BILLION dollars trying to buy votes.

And here is a classic example of a stupid policy. The liberals (in a desperate attempt to hold the immigrant vote) are now allowing the GRANDPARENTS to come over. This is just fucking stupid, these people contribute ZERO and just suck up our health care dollars. I should not have to wait in line while some guy who has been in the country a year and a half and has contributed NOTHING see's the doctor before me.

i love how all the bloc's party cares about is their own hockey team. THey havnt mantioned anything about actual politics which is kind of unusual

Oh wow, an intellectual discussion on NS this is really the first time ive see none of these. I have nothing to say beeing that im from the states, but this is an interesting topic for sure.

yeah seperatism isn't harmful to quebec's economy. thats why all the major corproations that were once based in montreal picked up and moved their headquartes to toronto once the Bloc became a popular party.

... And then what? Another minority governement that will get us nowhere and drive us to yet another election within a year or two? No. Vote conservative and your vote will count, yes, but voting Bloc is the stupidest thing you can do, because the way the parliament works is that it needs a majority party to be able to pass it's laws. But it's impossible for the Bloc to be elected... so what fuction does it serve?

And as for the "corrupted Liberals", do you really think that the Gomery recommandations won't include some sort of an independant group against corruption? That's why we needed to wait until the recommendations and then hold an election. Because what's changed since the last one, other that we know that Gomery believes the Liberals actually in place are blameless?

And, honestly, voting Conservative is commendable only if there isn't the sovereignity issue. It seems obvious that if they win, they'll disregard Quebec completely (they have next to no votes here). Do you want Harper to be one heading a campaign against seperatism in 2007 or 2008, during the next referendum?

all I have to say is that there is people who don't understand real life.

1st- a vote for the block is a good vote for some power in quebec. Since they are in a quebec only party it represent what Quebec has to say that's what the bloc is for. Since it will be a minority goverment it will have power just like at the last elections they were the one passing things and stuff cause the conservative were always agaisn't liberals and bloc was choosing subject by subject.

2nd- We definatly have a different culture man... Quebec movies are in the top in years at the box-office, quebec artist, and in survey we definatly have a different opinion comparing to the rest of Canada. you can't deny that or you are stupid. The culture in quebec isn't all about the language anymore it's about how to be, just ask doug of how it is different ;) he told me it was since he's from ontario!

3rd- you look brainwashed that separatist are french hating on english people. Man I got english friends that live in Montreal(aka Ns peoples,Jayson, etc) and I don't hate on them, I have friends in alberta, know people in ottawa and I think they are kick ass people! I don't hate on Canada, I just don't think that the way it is it represent greately Quebec wanting and actions, I think it's just better for us to govern ourself.we are not in 1980 anymore when independ way to be was a little bit a stupid. Now it's more about an official/ political and taxing freedom. like I told we will be in free trade with canada and it won't change shit between us.

4th- André Boisclair isn't a coke addict. I'm not a memeber of any political party so I don't have a that biased opinion. I think he's the 1st politician not talkoing shit and talking for a true political change after all the scandals I'm saying why not try? he's the first talking about folowing what people want and not bullshiting about yeah yeah we'll do this and this only in front of the people who want it. He's talking with intelligence and it is really special in politics. I mean look up at the liberal party? At least at the federal Level and in quebec. Pierre Petigrew a stupid fuck who said the PQ leaders were losers. Yeha they are loosers that,s why Canadian liberals do what they did in Quebec like 10 years later!! sure! Jean Charest is a stupid sheep who don't know how to deal with anything and isn't changing shit except for the worst. I mean if the liberal party was great I would vote for them cause I want to live in a nice living place but both sucks!

and 5th If I forget something I'll post back
