Canadian Dollar

yeah the world economy is crumbling, except NZ, all invested in alternate energies and such. fuck it dude, lets go shredding.

there are some positive aspects of a low dollar in relation to the americans. may not help consumer spending, but it will help or waning export and manufacturing industries.

i dont get whats so funny, the dollar go's up and down everywhere not just canada. remember late last year when the canadian dollar was worth more than the american dollar for quite some time.

well that's the problem
The canadian economy is based heavily on natural resources and raw materials i.e. copper, wood, oil.The prices of all those are plummeting

what the fuck are you talking about. it just means they are going to buy more. the amount that we are going to sell in volume will equalize the new difference of the dollar. who the fuck wanted to buy our timber at par when they could get it in their own backyard. now they want our timber because its cheap.

Well, the canadian dollar is dropping because the canadian economy isn't as well diversified as the US economy. The world is entering a pretty deep recession, by definition of a recession, Canada's GDP will drop. So, there will be less volume, not more. So not only are the prices of raw materials/oil lower, they're also being sold at a lower volume. The problem is that Canada is the essentially the only rich country in the world to have escaped the resource curse.
