Well, i'm from New Zealand and want to try and organize a trip to canada in Jan. But i also want it to be as cheap as possible(cheap uni student) without sacrificing the sick places.

I really want to go to whistler but have heard its mega $$. I also heard good things about big white.

Since i live in NZ i really want a ski town where theres always snow around and if u want u can just ski into town as in NZ i dont get to experience that. A good nightlife is always nice but i'd rather have good skiing.

If theres any other places you would suggest i'd appreciate it.

I guess i either ski park or pow so yeah any other info would be great as i know basically nothing. And i think i will fly into Vancouver as i can get cheap flights there. Would this be a problem?

all the interior mtns have nice pow, whistler is expensive but affordable if you stay in a hostel, and in the hostel youll prob meet someone who can show you around. apex is small, sun peak has really dry pow but its a pretty easy mtn. the local mtns are worth checking out if your staying in vancouver for a couple days, you can bus to grouse or hitchhike to seymour. if you go to grouse go during the weekday from monday to wednesday

bigwhite has a fairly good park, but if you really want the amazing ski experience Whistler will do it the best.

Whistler

Red Mountain (personal favorite)

Big White

Kicking Horse

Lake Louise

Panorama, Big White, Powder King, Mount Washington, Mount Seymore......umm there are a few others.

definately consider kicking horse, tonnes of verticle, great snow, pretty new resort.

3000 USD in a month including lift tickets... yeah, you could probably do whis for that. I don't know what kind of deal you could get on 30 odd days of skiing, but you could find somewhere decent to stay for 6-7, and that's a rather liberal estimate. Then the rest goes to food, fun etc. You'd definitely get more mileage out of your money in the interior though.

^^^ that 7-eleven is in/by the gas station... near a mcdonalds.

um... but if ur going for a month you might just wana get like a 30 day pass or something (im not sure, but there are lots of options on offer).

whistler is def. worth it... as long as u know where to go. then you can spend like 2 days in vancouver skiing grouse/cypress and maybe even seymuor but the 3 arent compulsary... not really worth it.

ive been looking into the hostles in whis. 20 a night and up. and to those who dont know what a hostel is: An inn, a communal residence for students or others, simple temporary accommodation for hikers. their fun, you can cook so you dont have to eat out all the time $$. email them to see if you can stay that long though

whistler will be cheaper in the long run because it is closest to new zeland. and near vancouver which is an international ariport. air travel is expensive.

ONLY go to big white if you like rails and nice pow

i found that in the park there was more rails and the pow is light

kicking horse is nice, i love it but its risky. you can go when theres great snow and you can go when there hasnt been snow in a month and the whole mountain is moguls.

big white is a solid choice. decent terrain, pretty big, good park and realllllyy nice powder when we get it which is fairly often. tons and tons of aussies and new zealanders. and i mean tons. they pretty much run the mountain. i think the owners from australia i think...owell, if you got any questions bout big white pm me. whistlers a good choice too if you can afford it but its redic expensive
