Responding to each part of that (noticeably drunken) rant in turn, because I've already finished my assignments for the day and no, I don't have anything better to be doing really... okay, law readings, but whatever, I digress. Here goes!
"Oh my good old knowitall friend JD. You know, I shouldnt argue with you, becuase you are just so fuckin smart. Like it is beyond me how smart you are."
Thank you, I can only imagine how frustrating this all must be for you, so thanks for opening with that.
"You know what. For once, just shut the fuck up."
"... Maybe put a cold Granville Island beer on that thing."
Granville Island stuff mostly sucks.
"If you dont like something I said, fucking say it. Dont just pretend like your time isnt worth wasting on me."
Hahaha, honestly? On that last comment, it wasn't worth wasting my time. Yeah... you shouldn't vote for lawyers. That should in fact be a political rule. If only farmers ran for public office! Them's good clean honest hard working folk. Could you possibly stereotype and oversimplify any more? Seriously, you're such a joke sometimes.
"Oh your precious time. What, I wouldnt want to keep you from your next episode of Dugie Howser. "
Pretty sure it's spelled "Doogie"... I've never actually seen an episode of it, do they actually show that anymore? Maybe in Alberta.
"I realize you are upset with the outcome of the election, and dont say your not."
I'm not happy with the guy in office, because I think he actually is evil. Like, his personal beliefs are so heinously offensive to me that I honestly consider him a bad human being. But then lots of people fall into that category, and as long as he doesn't fuck around with the country too much, it'll be okay. Gives the liberals a chance to shape up, the NDP looks strong... honestly, the election could've gone a lot worse. I'm not all that broken up about it.
"However, I think you should also maybe quit crying for a few minutes."
Now that you've used the whole "crying" thing ten times in under a week, maybe you should give it a rest for a while. You know, variety and all that.
"So what is it? Lawyers dont lie? They are the most honest people in the world? Generalizations- you gotta hate em eh? I dont understand, enlighten my uneducated brain."
My uncle's a lawyer, he's the most hardcore conservative I know, his whole family is so far right they're practically falling off the political spectrum. But more realistically, deciding you can't trust someone based on their profession is pretty silly. In fact I'd go so far as to term it "ludicrous" and "laughable" and "... you must be joking, right?" Why don't we go on what they say... I mean, if you're going to lean in that direction, Harper's not exactly "trustworthy"; he's shifted his own personal political beliefs into the figurative shadows and hoped no one would notice some of the things he's said in the past. That's honest? He doesn't even represent what he actually believes... if he did, he wouldn't have been elected. Joe Clark knew it... why don't you?
" Seriously, have some respect dude. I dont talk to you like that, so what the fuck is your problem? Is it that you are so smart, that you would never say something that dumb to begin with? Noooo, youve never said anything dumb. Never. Dont make me go dig it up, because yes, it isnt often, but it does exist."
So you're admitting that what you said was dumb... okay. Good, looks like we're on the same page. Next time I'm in that league of out-of-left-field stupidity, feel free to call me out. I'm sure I've said some pretty dense things when drunk. You were drunk then, too, right?
"So please, before I go on with you, at least give me some additional information on exactly how dumb I am. I mean, I'm not in Poli Sci or anything because I myself wouldnt mind getting a job later on sometime, so I might not exactly know everything like you."
Haha, like Harper never got a job? If you're wondering if the PM ever took a poli sci course... well... uh... yeah I'm going to go with "yes" on that one. Besides, I'm taking... oh yeah, law. Hey, why is anyone listening to anything I say, anyway? Clearly I'm lying to all of you.
"Or if you would like, write me back in German. Ich meine, es sollte nicht so schwerig sein fuer einen, der so schlau als du ist, oder?"
The evidence just keeps piling up... HEIL HARPER!
"So my point was (if I have to spell it out for you,) and whether you agree with it or not, all of the people saying "Harper is the Devil, he has ill intentions" should maybe just stop for one second and look at the background of their preferred politicians before they start making irrational statements."
Oh I have, and I will depending on who takes Martin's place. In fact I wrote a research paper on Martin's liberalism last year. I probably know more about your buddy Harper than you do. I've been to 2 public appearances by Layton (he's just as crazy in person by the way). And if everyone decided to look into Harper, I'm sure that about 1/2 the people who voted for him would say "This guy realllllly doesn't represent my views." Many probably wouldn't have voted for him if they'd been informed... many of those that still would would be doing so solely on the grounds of disliking the liberals. Well, they already did vote that way, so... I guess the system functions in ignorance, too.
"I mean, I might as well ask you whats wrong and right."
You could if you want. I'm not against it or anything. Shoot.
"In fact, you should probably lead this country. That is, if by lead I mean tell everyone what is wrong and right, but never actually take any action."
I'm up for that, too... a poli student at UBC ran for mayor last election, actually. Maybe I can run for MP West Van! As for not taking any action, what exactly would that entail? If you want to see me take action, talk Harper into passing some same sex marriage legislation, and look up "Guy Fawkes Day" on wikipedia.
"Add that to the bit of stealing they did. Heavens no, did I throw that in there? I was told to just forget about that. Stealing is not bad afterall."
What I can't wait to see is if this is still an issue next election... because it'll make about as much sense to bitch and man about it then as it does now, given when this all took place, and under whose authority. Yet somehow it seems to me that it'll be a stale issue then and won't be deemed worthy of campaigning on... I wonder why that might be... oh! I know! Maybe your upright, honest, hard workin' Albertan conservative party was... playing politics? Just like everyone else! What a surprise.
You know, if I did run for PM, I think I'd totally call Harper out on that Meech Lake thing his party was involved with that one time.
"Oh but the papers, the newspapers. They are, in the end, the ones that told me how to vote. Guess it doesnt matter that I voted 2 weeks before you did."
I voted early, I was skiing during the election.
"The papers never change. News is a joke.... It doesnt even have the word new in it. What Im saying now doesnt even make much sense, I could honestly agree. However, logic escaped you a long time ago, so it shouldnt much matter."
I'd inform you that this doesn't make much logical sense, but it seems kind of pointless. Which is exactly the attitude I took towards your first post... uh oh. Am I about to get another hate rant?
"As in, Conservative minded folk are the only ones that read into what the media tells them, its clearly much better to read into the words of what one party leader says about another."
I'd say the difference is that you guys don't seem to read much of anything... Or when you do you read selectively, and mentally white out large chunks. In this case the big thing on the front page of your local paper with the picture of Martin and "CLEARED" in big block letters after Gomery was done... but yeah. Like you said... forget it. Election's over, you have a minority, I'm sure there are other 5+ year old issues to harp on now. Hey, maybe even a new one! Or are all the people who wore blue to rallies on monday stuck back in the days of Doogie Howser with you?
"Oh yeah, did you hear Harper is the Devil? Seriously JD... do you have something a little better to say than what was in your last post? Or else, go back to your books, they tell you everything. Again, sorry if I stepped to your level."
I have only one thing better to say:
No. You weren't able to do it any better when drunk. Good try though.
... By the way, drunk posting on NS is fine and all, but drunk arguing about politics for 2 page rants on NS? That might be pushing it a little bit. Don't you have... friends... or... something going on? That prompted the drinking? Or is getting drunk and going online for an hour or two just a wednesday night thing for you guys?
Wacky Albertans.
